Morning Everyone, turned on VH1 classics channel yesterday and got two ABB videos, the 1st a live Whipping Post from the late 70's line-up with Dan & Frank Toler, and 2nd a video of Seven Turns (never knew they made a video of the song, pretty good video, too).
Also, went to the local Barnes and Nobles yesterday and they have the new issue of Oxford American which is their music issue. Great articles on all the artist that are on the CD. The CD itself has 23 cuts and includes such artist has Swamp Dogg, Del McCoury, Blind Boys of Alabama, Esther Philips, Little Milton (doing the classic Grits Ain't Groceries), Marshall Chapman, R.L. Burnside, Willie Nelson and several others. It's definely worth the 8 bucks and if you buy it a portion of your money -10%- is donated to the Music Maker Relief Foundation, which imho is a most worthy charity. Hittin the Note magazine did an article on the Music Maker Relief Foundation a few issues back.
Well need the print out some resumes and go hit a job fair this morning. Y'all wish me luck and everyone take care and have a great day.

Remember rollin' south for the Mule in Diego, and seeing "The Truckers" gear out front of our motel ? The '72 Ford Econoline was """Awesome Baby""" ...
Mobile 4-30-00

A funny memory I have of Music Midtown '00 was when Victor Wooten of Bela Fleck's band was addressing the crowd between songs and Joe Walsh was doing the same thing at the opposing stage about 3/4 mile away. Walsh says "How's everybody doing tonight" and Wooten yells back "Hey! How you doin'?!!" over the p.a.
Glad I took pictures at that event. I got a few of the brothers. I remember Dickey saying something to the effect of "We got our start at Piedmont Park about 30 years ago".
any peach heads going ti the aug 2 show at darian lake (buffalo, NY.) get in touch.. camping at the park ect . sure hope they do LAYLA !!!!
The music scene is uncharacteristically hoppin' in my town: going to see Dwight Yoakam's acoustic show tonight. Leo Kottke's in town next month. Koko Taylor and Dr. John are in town this August.
Now, if I could just arrange for the Brothers to do a gig here this summer, I'd really be happy!
😀 is all I am right now! Hot damn, there is a southern date being played after all. Thought the summer was a gonner with no shows. I guess I will have to spend the first part of the summer just :bike: waitin for August to come round. Thanks for hearing my plea! :jump: :jump:
5/7/00 was a terrific show, in my opinion. Gigantic crowd, especially considering that I had seen the band in front of maybe 4,000 people (probably a generous estimate) at the Mobile Civic Center a week before.
Lots of good stuff--"Rave On," "True Gravity," "J.J.'s Alley" all stand out.
Who knew at the time that that show would turn out to be the last one for Brother Dickey? We were already counting the days 'til the next one as soon as the Music Midtown gig was over...
Libby, I was most definitely in the right state of mind for that show too!! Woswers.

I keep forgetting some of you weren't here (GB) in 2000.... BE THANKFUL!!! It wasn't very pretty, but I try to add some ABB content to all my posts since this is the ABB port of call... da dada da da....
I wasn't referring to the 2000 "show", the show was fine from where I was and the state of mind I was in:cool: ...I was referring to the events that took place here a couple of weeks after that show, as Bird often says to me when something is fixin' to happen...." WHEE!"
Hey Scotty, I'm not sure Dino can handle another trip east right now ....can you, Dino?
ABB content..... :guitar: WHEE!!
Karen, you're going to love the deep South in the fall.
just dropped in to see what condition your condition was in...
wonderful spring break...bring on summer...

Hey Libby: you might get a little left coast love because DINO loves that ANGEL IN THE FUSELAGE song that the drive by truckers do.
Big thanks to goliath again for the DTB show. What' A+L????

I hear ya Randy....After speaking with Greg & Barb Potter in NYC and telling them we always wanted to go to GABBA Fest but it was too close to the Beacon festivities, they told us it was resched till October...so.... we have set the wheels in motion and definitely going to GABBA Fest this year...:)
Later, Karen
Lots going on in October....
Been listening to the Beacon shows and this band has once again raised the bar. Derek is constantly getting better (and that's almost hard to believe). His control is unreal, listening to him go off in a jam like Desdemona and then pull it back in effortlessly. Otiel constantly adding flavor to the jams, proves he's one the best listeners (and players) out there. Looking forward to the DVD and the summer shows.
