Thanks for info Benjamin. I'll give the Hilton box office a call tomorrow.
Old Coot, one question: do you know who the sax player was who played on Stormy Monday?
Hey Old Coot, thanks for the dates on that show. Wow, I thought I really knew my Duane-era ABB stuff. They sure didn't play as well on 5/whatever/70 as they did at the 2/11/70 late show. Oh well, that's why they call me 2old.
Hey Jams3 - regarding the Atlantic City Hilton show - I just got off the phone with some very nice folks there - and was told that they have not yet completed building the seating plan for the ABB show...but they plan on having it done by noon tomorrow.
It's not going to be posted on their web site (and I don't think it will be at Ticketmaster either), but they will fax out a copy on request....
Oh...and tickets go on sale 10A Saturday at the Hilton Box office and at Ticketmaster
Leah Marie and Jonesy, I grew up loving those Knick teams, as well. In fourth grade we used to shoot jumpshots and kick ourselves in the rear like Dick Barnett used to. Not very efficient technique, in retrospect, but it helps when I kick myself these days! 😀 In fourth grade I also thought I was going to play in the NBA one day. Then I stopped growing and couldn't jump, so...
I'll watch a few playoff games these days--bits and pieces of them is all I have time for, anyway. At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I'd say that I really don't care for today's pro hoops. But, perhaps other things just came along to replace it for me. Like work...and music! :guitarist:
BadLittleDoggie- I remember Dave DeBusschere well as a "youngster" and a part of my youth went with him yesterday. That Knick team was so much fun to watch...and those were times to listen to Marv Albert on the radio, the best announcer around!
"Frazier, over to Bradley, out to DeBusschere, siiiiiiiide jump...yeeesssss!"
Hi everyone! I've never posted here before but I'm a longtime fan, a frequent guestbook reader, and a regular ABB concert goer (Beacon every year since 1996). I'd like to attend the AC show on 6/28 but I don't know anything about the venue. What's the seating arrangement like (need 6 Tickets if possible)? Is there a pre-sale/POG I should know about? Can anyone enlighten me? Lana? Thanks in advance to all the great fans on this site.
2old2, the 17 minute Stormy Monday you describe is definitely 5/2/70 Swarthmore College. Check the live show database for all the songs played that show.
Just got my Music Maker Relief Foundation Newsletter, and it includes an article about the recent Taj Mahal Fishing Blues Tournament week held in Costa Rica. Taj runs the tournament as a benefit for the Foundation. Along with many other musicians, among this year's participants were Dickey Betts, Derek Trucks, and Jimmy Herring. The article reports that they played together at a concert held for the locals. They performed Elizabeth Reed, Georgia On A Fast Train and Ramblin' Man. Sounds like it was well worth the $5000 price tag.
For those of you not familiar with MMRF, check it out at musicmaker.org. Great organization that provides assistance to elderly blues musicians who are down on their luck. Buy some cd's or other merchandise or just send'em some money.
Does anyone know about this recording - I just drove to work, and felt like listening to the ABB. I found this untitled CD in a generic case tucked between the seats:
1. Intro by Duane
2. 17" Stormy Monday, with Tom on harmonica and an unamed sax player. Gregg doesn't start singing until about 4" into the song.
3. Dimples
4. Intro by Duane
5. Whipping Post
6. Mountain Jam (cuts off during drum solo)
Whoever sent it to me labeled it "ABB 2/2". The recording is primitive sounding, and it sounds like late 1969 after the 1st album came out, but definitely sounds pre-2/11/70.
I'd love it if someone could let me know what recording this is. I'll also share it with anyone. If my time frame is right, it's amazing how much they changed/grew by the month.
Before anyone gets excited, the below was just my opinion. Anyone remember roller derby - before it went the way of wrestling = entertainment/comedy show? Ahh, Joan Weston, Charlie O'Connell - my family would go to Madison Square Garden and the players would come over and sit and talk with us. It was my first career choice to be a roller derby queen - lol
RIP Dave DeBussure (sp) - ahh those were the years - the early 70's - I loved the N.Y. Knicks then. Thats when basketball was a team sport not what it is today.
Hey man don't be ashamed to plug your website, i know the hard work that goes into music, and a little plug does not kill, if anything it is a middle finger to corporate America! I hope all is well, and everyone has a Blessed day....Walker
If I could only have 3 Neil Albums, they would be Zuma, Tonights The Night, and On The Beach. Great that Beach is finally coming out on CD. It was the only one of the three unavailable. I dig Motion Pictures...
I hate to shamelessly plug anything, but if any of you are bored tonight and just surfing around, check out my band's website www.crosseyedcats.com and have a look and a listen. A bit generic, but we're only 8 gigs into this thing and it is my 1st website, so I'm a little excited - please forgive me . Hopefully as we gel musically, we'll work on a better page. PEACE !
The story I've always heard about the lack of CD re-issues of Neil Young's early works was that he wasn't happy about the digital sound quality. The music is Neil's and he wasn't about to release it until he was satisfied with the way it sounded.
I know this probably belongs in the "Thanks" thread in the forum....but here it goes anyway...
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC YOU'VE BEEN SENDING MY WAY!!!
Not a day has gone by in the past month where i haven't had a musical gift in the mail. I'm constantly grooving to the good tunes, night and day.
Special thanks to:
Jeff G. from Salem Ohio
Donny T. from Greer S.C.
Lee from Meechigan....

I think the ABB deserve more than the 2 hour set Saturday, but...
Waking up w/ Warren on Sunday sounds nice
Take Care
Hey there sweet family,
The latest review of Hittin' the Note in the CD Reviews section is from ... drum roll ... Brisbane, Australia! 🙂 Thanks very much to brother Garry Dempsey for submitting it. :clapping:
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Afternoon all. You all probably know this already, but I'm always behind. Just found out that Robert Randolph is opening for the Mule at the Central Park, N.Y.C. show on June 6th -- my heart be still - a double dose of Leah music in one night - lol I'm so excited I probably could walk there from Rockland County!!
