Just got my Music Maker Relief Foundation Newsletter, and it includes an article about the recent Taj Mahal Fishing Blues Tournament week held in Costa Rica. Taj runs the tournament as a benefit for the Foundation. Along with many other musicians, among this year's participants were Dickey Betts, Derek Trucks, and Jimmy Herring. The article reports that they played together at a concert held for the locals. They performed Elizabeth Reed, Georgia On A Fast Train and Ramblin' Man. Sounds like it was well worth the $5000 price tag.
For those of you not familiar with MMRF, check it out at musicmaker.org. Great organization that provides assistance to elderly blues musicians who are down on their luck. Buy some cd's or other merchandise or just send'em some money.
