Donna,....The name of that song is: "Brightest Smile In Town" from Gregg's 1977 Playing Up A Storm lp. As JNB pointed out, it's a Barry DeVorzon/Bob Sherman/Ray Charles tune. That whole album is killer. One of my all time favorites is Matthew's Arrival. Peace,...Neil

Hey now - This evening my kids and I went trick-or-treating with Donna Hopkins, her daughter India, and friends. While the other parents were along to supervise, Donna wore a Mardi Gras mask and filled a bag with candy. Tonight I discovered that our Donna is a sucker for suckers! Whoa -- I've got some hot news! First of all, Donna performed last Tuesday at Fuzzy's with a new group – in addition to the Donna Hopkins Band and the Women of Rock, Donna is now fronting an awesome all-girl band. Growing out of an impromptu jam, Tuesday's show was the first-ever gig for the group, tentatively called Word To Your Mother. This talented ensemble consists of: Donna Hopkins - vocals and guitar Lola Gulley - vocals and keys Cindy Adler - bass Tina Catalanotto - drum kit Shelley Murphy - percussion This is not a novelty act -- this is a hard-rocking band that offers their own unique interpretations of Donna's songs together with a mix of new covers and originals. Be on the lookout for tapes of the show! Interestingly, the gals called themselves the Back Stabbing Witches (with a "B" ) during the performance, although this name is strictly tongue-in-cheek and is now disavowed. Other names being considered are The Fabulous Five Femmes and Mothers & Sinners. Whatever they are called, I hope you get to hear them soon! And, hey! Donna Hopkins Band players Richie Jones and Kevin Thomas were in the audience that night -- both with bombshell announcements. First, Richie and long time gal friend Sam Allessi are tying the knot! Yes, two of my favorite people are getting married to each other! I don't know the details yet, but I'm sure the date will be set shortly. In MORE big news, Kevin announced that he and girlfriend (and recording artist) Mimi Holland are not only getting married … they are pregnant! And that's the news from Atlanta.

It's a Ray Charles tune that Gregg sung on Playing Up a Storm. Very nice vocals on a great cover! JNB

Happy Halloween everyone 😎 :cowboy: :jester: Can anybody help me identify a song?????? It's from A Gregg Allman solo album somewhere around 1977-1980 Some of the lyrics are........ Some people cry the blues But, I never could cry Then you came along with a suitcase and a song You took the brightest smile in town You took it and turned it upside-down. We are going nuts trying to figure this one out.....Anybody know????

the word on the street is that the construction accident in A/C yesterday was most likely the result of a job that was behind schedule being rushed...the workers where instructed to remove the concrete forms well before the concrete was cured enough for support. on a brighter note, i hope all you halloweiners have a safe holiday! Like Eddie said; don't eat too much candy! Send it to me instead! 🙂

Hey now! Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Keep your eyes open for the little gremlins and gobblins tonight if you're out and about. Me, I'm heading over to the beautiful Palace Theater in a few hours to see the one and only B.B. King! I'm waaaay pumped for that, let me tell you. Speaking of Halloween shows, on this date in 1990 I saw my third Allman Brothers show ever, at the old Louisville Gardens. My first two shows came earlier that summer (7/1/90 in Atlanta and 7/16/90 in Macon, if you're scoring at home), and while they were both rock solid performances, the band still hadn't quite won me over. At that point in time, I was more of a Dead fan, to be honest. But Halloween night at the ancient barn downtown changed all that. Maybe I was just ready for what the guys were puttin' down, maybe the performance was more lively, maybe the drugs were better...I can't be sure. What I CAN be sure of is that the show had an impact on me like few others have before or since. From that moment forward, I was a believer. Of course, I've the Allmans many, many times since, and I've seen a few better shows (and several that weren't as good), but I still remember that night like it happened yesterday. At the risk of sounding dramatic, I was a changed man when I walked out of the Gardens and into the crisp night air on October 31, 1990. My friend Stephanie even managed to weasel her way backstage (the benefits of being tall, blonde and hot as a firecracker, I guess), and she said that the buzz after the show was tremendous--the band seemed to know that they had hit a home run that night. Happy Halloween, ya'll!! 😀

Just got back from a long work lunch. My bosses took me out for lunch to celebrate my 5 year anniversary. As a reward for enduring 5 long years, I was given $200 in Ticketmaster gift certificates. That oughta about cover the surcharges on my Beacon tix in March!!
