My Raleigh Instant Live arrived today :biggrins: I have had the honor of going to Raleigh twice, thanks to one of the sweetest peaches I have ever know, Betty, Skybyrd. Love you, sis!!!! It is one of the best venues I have ever been to, and I have been to too many to count. The quality is excellent. I feel like I am there. Not going to miss Raleigh next year no matter what. Just wish I could afford to buy all the Instant Lives, but I am grateful for this one. Many thanks to the people at HTN for the CD and the new issue of HTN magazine. Seems once I moved the Post Office never forwarded my copy. Y'all have a great weekend. Go Seminoles.....crushed Notre Dame today.......waiting for that bowl invitation!!!!

Happy Saturday Folks, Okay folks, Lynn and I delved our little Shelby a little further into the world of rock and roll...we did a good thing I think. :looney: First of all we want to send out great big :birthday: wishes to our little concert, road trippin', music loving son, Shelby who turns 9 today. Secondly, our son has been telling us the only thing he wants for his birthday is a guitar.....soooo Daddy and I went shopping and bought him a Red electric Jr. Gibson Les Paul replica and a 15 watt Marshall Amp and the little goodies that go along with it. We surprised him this morning and I tell ya, the way that boy smiled as he walked into his bedroom and seen *his* rig set up....he brought me to tears, as I was beaming ear to ear and was so happy as he gave us the biggest hug and thank you. We made our son very happy and I he's going to do us proud, well he already does as do all our babies. Well you folks have a great day and give someone a hug  Later, Karen

Well as Brent said winter came on with a bang. Rain and cold by LA standards. (38 degrees) rain kept away kids, usually see 150 -200 in our area, less than 50 last night. Now what the heck does a fat guy do with all that candy HMMMM!! Johnny Winter is high on my list, but last time I saw him about 5 years ago he was, frankly, awful. I hope he can get back some of his old flame, he kicked a$$ in the old days. Saw him @ the Fillmore and remembered saying Aw crap, these guys are WAY too high to play anything, nobody can function that high. Then BOOM JW AND just blew us out of the place. If any of you don't have the black album JWA it is absoutely a must have album. Still one of my all time favorites. Have a great weekend, gotta figure out why my kitchen doesn't have power. Later

Good morning, Easy Michael, "American Beauty" is a classic. As you may recall "Workingman's Dead" and American Beauty" were the Grateful Dead's incredible creative time period for song writing. Both cd's sound incredible after Mickey Hart remixed them into the 5.1 format. Garcia and band sound clearer listening to the 5.1 system. The seperation of the instruments and voice send these cd's into a class of there own. A side note about awesome Live Dead shows. My friend and I are making a short list of KILLER live DEAD shows. Our starting point has recently been directed to some shows in MAY of 1977. We both have many cassette recordings which are holding on by a thread. The Lakeland, Florida show in May of 1977 is a great starting point.. This one goes down in the history books as being one of the best. It only gets better. Dick's Picks 29 (Grateful Dead's official live soundboard releases) has LakeLand, Florida and the Atlanta show(prevoius night) as a 6 disc release. I ordered mine the other day. The spring tour 0f 1977-1978 have some of the best live Dead shows that really show off the playing of the band. "American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead" cd's are a great studio recording period for the Dead while the 1977-1978 tour dates show off the live talents of the band. Garcia is so great. I wish I could dance as well as Andy in the Mule. I have been labled "the stumbler" by people who seen me dance. Genetics are crazy sometimes. Next week I get to see my old Yoga friend Adrian Belew with King Crimson at Parkwest in Chicago. Yikes, Trey Gunn(bass player) makes me appreciate music theory and his playing scares me a little. He plays a 8 string bass with one side of the 4 string fret board being fretless and the other being fretted. Atlanta Pop "Dreams" in the car yesterday, WOW! the ABB's had it going good that festival. Cheers Charlie

Brent, nice work on the rain! Your package went out today...sorry for delay. It was 70+ degrees in Indy last night for Halloween - a good time was had by all. Josh threw a party - he was Jerry G and I was Stevie Wonder - you'd have been proud. Is it March yet? 😎

"Sometimes I know its kind-of hard to tell...but I'm Still Alive and Well"! Thats a great JW album, as is Saints and Sinners. Winter was the first white performer to be inducted into the Blues Hall Of fame back in 1986. He usually stands motionless on stage when he plays with his fret hand moving fast as lightning. Now his brother Edgar is just the opposite, runs all over the stage like his clothes are on fire.:guitar:

As noted on the DB GB this morning, Happy Birthday, Shelby Bomberry! :fanfare: I am so glad I got to meet you this past year, and I look forward to the next time I see you! Goliath, I'd tell you to call me if you and Coot need bail money this weekend, but I don't have any, so...never mind. Today is anniversary of the release of my favorite non-ABB-related album: American Beauty. Turn it up!

Now off to play some old Johhny Winter (Still Alive and Well) and some Atlanta Pop some more..... speaking of Johnny, he is almost done a new studio album...... despite reports of his looking so terrible, latest 2003 pics show a Johhny not looking bad, and maybe a few pounds heavier (good for him). Personally, I never wrote Johnny off..... I think he has a few jems left. After Duane, Johnny has been my favorite guitarist. And Lana.... I ordered Leon and the Shelter People!

Well, it was like 5 degrees last night here in NW Montana for Trick or Treat. I gave out popsicles. Turned the hose on a few. Annoying little beggers. We had like 20 kids max come by, since 9/11 it has steadily declined. But last night was extreme, the cold kept most away.... now got 2 bags of candy still. I missed the Aurora Borealis here! Too cloudy up by Big Mountain here. Front page has a photo from south of here where it was seen... the entire sky is swirling green, looks like shroom stuff..... As the great Tommie used to say.... "Hi To All My Friends" (God Bless him).... this Saturday.....
