EM, you know your a good man! So there was some negativity from someone who may have been havin a bad day themselves. Let it go, not worth the stress, your students give enough of that in your life. then again I am a total maniac and will get in your face if you get in mine. Maybe I should follow my own advice for a change Mitch, Cancun in Feb, Beacon in March, Paris in April perchance? Gotta win that Lotto!

¡Bienvenidos de Cancun! Greetings from Cancun. I found a computer here at the hotel, and just thought I`d say hello. Marie and I are having a great time in the sun and on the beach. Wish you were all here to share the moment. I hear back home it was 15 degrees, and we missed it! See you at Beacon! Mitch

Wow, Easy Michael getting tarred and feathered on the Dickey site? That just isn't right...Michael is one of finest folks I've had the pleasure to meet through this great place. I can't imagine him saying anything to offend anyone. Come on, lighten up over there, please. You're OK in our book E.M! peas

EasyMichael....sorry you did not get that warm and fuzzy feeling over on the Dickey site. As you mentioned in your post over there, it was your first visit in awhile to the Dickey site and you were ready to be "tarred and feathered". You were commenting on a post in the ABB guestbook be someone from the Dickey site which you took exception with. I think the comments on your post were respectful. Your reputation and love and support over there was overwhelming. There are some loyalist Dickheads over there who don't understand the "love the current ABB" thing. I myself must plead guilty on that one. Hope you reconsider your comment about not being able to catch Dickey next month because of it being a school night. Fifteen more sleeps until Dickey Betts and Great Southern pull out the station on the first leg of their 2004 tour !!!!! :thewave:

Hey there sweet family, Bluefox, since the final show as added "by popular demand" the only guideline to be concerned about is the 4 ticket limit. I do love this first ABB show thread. Mine was from (surprise!) ... Rowland! :spinner: The first non-ABB show I received was a Muddy Waters show from Paul Kaytes. This was a decade, and many road trips, ago. Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

Good Morning, Have fun at the Mule tonight. Josh, too bad that you are unable to make the Richard Thompson show tonight at Birdys In INDY. Last year I was at Jack's bass camp and I missed Richard Thompson for the first time since 1985. I joined a band in 1985 and met a wonderful person and guitar player who turned me on to Richard Thompson. He and I and another close friend are heading to INDY later this afternoon. A day off tomorrow is in order. Anyone who lives in the INDY area would probably enjoy Richard Thompson. Monster guitar player/singer from England with a Celtic music influence. Hope to see a few ABB's fans there tonight. Charlie

The first show thread was very exciting yesterday.so how about this one... Thinking back on all the live shows I have seen.....many come to mind as great, but the ONE show that will stand out in my mind forever was Great woods in 2002. I landed in Philly was was picked up by sherry and Mike. We went to the Camden, NJ show and met up with the sweeties. the next day we drove to MD for the Merriweather show...which was great, as usual. the next day we drove up to Mass for the Great Woods show. Met up with about a dozen freinds from the site and had THE best pre show party at Glen B's truck. so many, many people stopped by and we all had a great time. About 10 of us all had seats together for the show...Deep Banana Blackout opened and we caught the tail end of it....was too hard to leave the pre show party LOL. Anyway, I was sitting between peachmaniac and Glen B when the ABB takes the stage. I knew this was going to be a very special performance. the band takes the stage and I hear the first note and grab peachmaniac and Glen by the arms....OH MY GOD...they are opening with Whipping Post !!!!! We all totally freaked out !!!! I have seen about 100 live ABB shows since 1969 and NEVER had I seen them open with WP....when I think back on that show I still get chills. does anyone ever remember them opening with WP???????

My first show was from Dan (Ohio)...he sent me a 1972 show, five man band era (4/16/72 I believe) and I was off and running. Dan suggested that I look at this site called Hittin the Web if I wanted more shows. I looked it over, and contacted some dude out of the blue named "Phillybob" and told him I was new, had nothing, knew nothing about this stuff and how do I get some shows? Well, Mr. Phillybob simply said send me the discs, and pick ten shows that you want!!!! I thought to myself, damn, this is too good to be true...how many phillybob's are there out there on this website???? After that, Clay was instrumental in helping me build a nice base of ABB shows simply due to his extraordinary generosity in making shows available to folks on this site. Now? I have way too many shows to listen to, and I love it...

Although I've been getting a lot of stuff on disk these days, i still keep all the tapes around, or maybe under the bed. They still get played too. One day you'll pull them out 20 years from now, and people will go, "what the hell are those things?" They have a certain charm to them.

Good Morning guest book! So glad to see the vibes are so positive and the love and happiness is spreading far and wide! This sure is a hell of a bunch...are ya feeling Beaconized yet? Reading the posts about some of the first shows you received from some of the folks here makes me think back to the old site where there was no forum...ONLY a guest book, where everyone came to share thoughts on The ABB and so many other topics. Yeah I figured this internet thing would catch on sooner or later LoL... Good to see a lot of the old regulars are still hangin strong. I think the very first shows I received was an early Derek show from Southpaw - it was the first show I ever received on a CD - not a cassette. I still have about 50 or 60 Dead shows on tape that I sill listen to...I think I'll always keep them for the memories! I received MANY fine shows in the early days from folks like Goliath and Gerald and Philly Bob etc. Thanks guys! I have Cowboy Neil to thank for turning me onto Steve Kimock, of which I am now a full fledged Kimock freak!...what a player Steve is! Thanks Neil! Listened to the Instant-Live Charlotte show last night...Wow! That Mountain Jam is one of the best ever, really! ...and Derek on Rockin Horse...Damn, what a talent that kid is....Thanks for a moment guys...see ya. Peace

OK so these students got me to play with them last nite at a guitar concert here at my school. To be honest I SOKKED but it was so much fun playin music with kids instead of teaching them stuff like equilibrium and stuff they don't really care about. Remember this name. Ryan McGarvey, the young man can flat out play. His band played about 6 tunes last nite, the third being One Way Out which i sat in on. Got lost a couple of times but turned down the Tele till I could get back into it. Cool to see 16 year olds playing the Blues
