Carol, I had the good fortune to catch Keb Mo' at a small venue in Princeton NJ about 2 years ago. All acoustic show, most of it done solo a small portion of the show done with an acoustic guitarist acompanying Kevin. Hell of a show. He took requests and did "Come on in my kitchen" his rendition blew me away. If you all get the chance to see Mr. Moore dont hesitate.....BTW I wasnt the only peachead there, when he asked for requests someone in the crowd yelled "Pony Boy" he didnt satisfy that request though, It would have been nice if he had...

Happy Anniversary Gail and Bill! many more...oy, when it rains, it pours..mybad, did I forget to mention how great Keb Mo is LIVE? Unbelievable..I was able to get in a run up the mountain alongside the Tn River to catch the first 3/4 of an hour of Keb Mo's show at Riverbend, and still hustle back in time to slip into my seat as LR was walking out on stage....How the hell am I gonna go back to Hootenanys on the Peace River thursdays now. Keb Mo was even better LIVE than his studio work..pretty much says it all....Broke my heart having to walk away from...Ca

just a thought i try to keep in mind: just because you like something, that doesn't make it good, and just because you don't like something, that doesn't make it bad. i like some stuff that, with my detachment cap on, i know isn't very good, and there's a LOT of stuff i don't particularly care ever to hear again that i know is quite good --- i just don't like it! know what i mean?

Lee Roy Hot Damn Parnell! do you see this little Brother, Thank-You , we LOVE you! both LRP shows of a lifetime..you are so spoiling us... In my wildest dreams I couldnt imagine spending such a beautiful Father's Day weekend ever again in this liftime. Thanks to God, and a few good friends, Kevin and my spirits soared ...I know Ive said this before, Lee Roy Parnell, the man, grand slide guitarist, and singer-songwriter, is one in a million...like our beloved Brothers....He cannot be denied....Thank you too, all the fine, good-hearted people of the great states of Tennessee and Georgia, an old sweet song...made me feel right at home...Welcome to Bobby Whitlock! please stay...I cant think of anyone whose insight would be more welcomed here....Our passion runs hot and our opinions may clash, but for the most part, we tell the truth... thats what I love.....and my sweet Kevin smiling! Kevin loved EC in Hot Lanta....and even more so ....the absolutely most indcredible 30 minute show I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing.....Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton were brilliant! There is no way Im living without seeing Jimmie again asap. Treat yourself right...go see Jimmie! the Texas guitars got it going on..Dickey and Duane must have been miracles, the Texans all are...It is their birthright. We had the pleasure of Brother James Pennebaker's playing ( hell yeah, he sang Linda Lou) with Lee Roy at the Chattanooga show. James is as fine a guitarist as is out there. Honky Kat, whats the name of that country song LR sang on the Tn River..It was just gorgeous! His vocals are so rich and sweet...like Otis and BB....like Floyd Miles and Gregg and Dickey ...Lord have mercy..when LR feels like singing, standback. I love Eric Clapton...He is a good man and he has suffered more than his share..It is not natural for a Father to bear the terrible cross of burying a child. I believe I witnessed one of the greatest moments in Rock history when Little Jimmie took EC in his arms ,sweeping him nearly off the ground, in a Texas-sized bear hug....Like Gregg and Dickey of old..best friends...I could feel their love from the rear of the Phillips Arena..and it felt fine. EC's genius in songwriting and the luciousness he brought to the Blues..The generations of Bluesmen he inspired to greatness, he is one of a kind...If he seems frail and gentle, so be it. His setlist was magnificent..I wish I were truer a fan and could have appreciated his show more, but he never stood a chance with me, not after LR, damned sure not after Jimmie....Only Dickey holds that key. Let it Rain, one of my all time favorites, followed by Hoochie Coochie Man...Did I already say one of my favorites? His setlist is over the top...That he is being loved up in the arms of his fans, thank goodness for that ..May God bless.....I could not be more thankful to be blessed with this second oportunity to have seen him perform... Speaking of which...I need ABB tix!!!!!!! whats the deal? Im not good at computer games..Someone please have mercy on me, whats the trick to getting Fox tix for 2, hopefully all 3 nights? Love to ya'll, Ca ps..to David and Libby..I bet even ole Ray cryed tears of joy saturday night rain in heaven....

Hey Rick, I almost got crushed to death trying to exit City Stages on Saturday. I got caught in the middle of the static crowd that was there to see Skynyrd.while the Kid Rock fans were trying to push through from the other side. I'm glad that I didn't die at a Skynyrd/Kid Rock show. I mean, what would people think? Chris Robinson and New Earth Mud did indeed put on a terrific show. I think some of the Kid Rock fans (who got there early to stake their claim) might be converts. Rob Barraco really makes that band. After reading David's coments about fans who slam artists, I feel a little bad about my review of the Los Lonely Boys set. I really didn't slam them too bad. The worst thing that I said was that the guitarist may have Stevie Ray's tone but he doesn't have his licks yet. I mentioned that to me, they placed more emphasis on style over substance. I'll stick by that one. The other thing that I mentioned was that they kept introducing themselves and asking the crowd if they were "ready to rock". As Frank Zappa once said, "shut up and play yer guitar". I'm sorry if I offended anybody. RB

TanDan, thanks.... Goliath is a friend and I respect his opinion and thoughts. And his post got me to thinking. Obviously, either I am way off when it comes to Clapton, or I just dont get it (him). With EC, I see so much hype around him that I guess I cannot see past that to understand his playing, how limited it may be in my opinion. True enough, the matter of Layla has been a burr under my saddle because I have felt all along EC minimized Duane's role in D&D's project. Nevertheless, I have always tried to be real here and not necessarily cater to the party line, but, there are respectful limits to address at times. In the case of Goliath, he likes me anyway, or in spite of myself! That is about as real as it gets. So, thank you BOTH for being real!! I love the fact we all contribute and learn and grow from the musical experience... Moving on to another subject, City Stages was held in Birmingham this weekend. Mara was on call this weekend, and, as fate would have it, she got called in for 2 cases after working a 12 hour shift Friday. I was in Nashville the day before to give a speech and was dog tired Friday and she worked, so we decide to blow off Friday and regroup for Saturday. The phone rings Saturday morning and there is a case scheduled at 1PM. She does the case and finishes at 5PM. We get ready to go to City Stages and get there in time to catch Drive By Truckers, a little of Calvin Richardson, opening of Chris Robinson, and a little of LS followed by the Rev. Al Green. We were both tired, but we caught a second wind after grabbing a couple of great corn dogs and washing them down with fresh lemonade. The weather could not have been better after several years of weather associated problems at the event. This weekend, it was hot and dry during the day (which favors concession sales) and a slight breeze and clear at night. Given that LS is going to perform with the ABB later this year, I wanted to check them out. It was packed with young and old. Amazing. They played OK; tired yet tight. I was not impressed except for the crowd. They apparently have a good following and continue to have good name draw, and that means something as far as promoters are concerned. Now, by contrast, Al Green tore the house UP! That man put the love out there and basically held church service and called it a gig. And Mara and I loved it. He can still hit the note and really gave the crowd part of himself. The backup band basically did their job and held it together for Rev. Green while he did his thing. He was "free" if you will; he could preach and sing a little and talk a little while the band knew what they had to do. I like that at times because it actually blends very well with the concept of an outdoor gig like a City Stages....a little more relaxed.....a festival atmosphere. Kid Rock was the follow up act, but we were tired and so we booked. Within a few minutes after getting to the car, Mara's pager goes off, and there is another emergency case to start at 1AM. I felt so sorry for her, but that is nursing. We hurry home just for her to turn around and go back to town. She gets back home at 5AM, and needleless to say, we did not go to any of the acts Sunday....just chilled and regrouped. While we had a somewhat abbreviated fun time this year at City Stages, I'm glad we were able to support it. It's a good festival and I hope they made money this year, as they have struggled in years past and had about a $400K debt going into this year. The ABB or DB would be a crowd draw for them and I wish either be on the bill for next year. Rick Tomlinson

Hey there sweet family, :fanfare:Ladies and Gentlemen ... the Allman Brothers Band is happy to announce their long-rumored run at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta September 24, 25 and 26 is now set in stone. :fanfare: Not only that, but we're working on a Peach Corps exclusive pre-sale for you! Whoo hoooo! :spinner: Obviously because of the fast-approaching general on-sale, and the time constraints involved, information sharing has the potential to get pretty hectic, so don't be surprised to see some creative twists this time around. The basic rules won't change, though. Stay tuned! Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

If you've ever wondered what Bobby Whitlock would sound like jamming with the ABB, take a listen to JAM IV off of The Layla Sessions 3-CD box set. It has Eric and Bobby playing with the Brother's, minus Jaimoe. It was recorded August 27, 1970 and is a version of Howlin' Wolf's 'Killing Floor'. Great stuff. It doesn't get much better than this! Gregg plays piano here and Bobby plays organ. Rick, you just keep on postin' your thoughts and don't worry what people think. "When we finished it ( The Layla album ) and were mastering it, I felt it was the best god**mn album I'd been involved with since THE GENIUS OF RAY CHARLES..." --Tom Dowd fm the liner notes of The Layla Sessions
