I believe it's time for a roll call to see who all will be in attendance. Right now the easiest plan is to just meet in the Denver West Marriott bar around 1 or 2 on Friday. This should give us a chance to meet everyone from the GB that have come in from around the country. We can pile in the cars of who ever wants to drive and canavan to the show from there.

Thanks for not directing that at me Romjon.... Thanks for nice comments from others, don't worry, what is meant to be, ya know. I look at my post from last night on the no show for me, full of typos and tired thoughts and would like to go back and severely edit or correct, or really just delete it, but let it sit... it is what I thought, warts and attitude and all.... Cheryl and I big plan will be Beacon 05, I'll still be on TX, but I just know I'll get by with a little help from my friends when there. Atlanta sounds too big too much too soon for me right now..... thanks I lay a little lower here now, I want the joy of the summer run to fill these pages and the music to fill the air. "Y'all are a great bunch".....

Tony, I want to follow on what JNB posted. Consider Atlanta in September if at all possible. There are enough of us here that would be glad to pick you up from the airport share a hotel room and probably find that spare ticket somewhere !

Hey Randall and Tony, I am amazed and admire how upbeat you remain after such adversity. As Joe said below, we were all really hyped up with your anticipation and felt so down when we heard what had happened - hope for much better for you in the future. Think its high time Bird flew South for the winter and met up with Buppalo !

Well, the Big Sky Montana show was a challenge, for sure. This is Part 1 of my report. The afternoon of the show date was sunny, and the gate was scheduled to open at 5:30pm with the show starting at 6:30. My wife and I got there at about 5:40pm and saw a long line to get in. The Gov’t Mule van was set up outside the gates, promoting the new album called Deja Voodoo. After waiting in line for 45 minutes, we got in through the gates. For some reason, Chris Robinson and New Earth Mud didn’t play, so I wandered around. Happened to walk by a guy in an EAP shirt and thought that he looked familiar. Lo and behold it was Bird72 and Ladybird! Had a good conversation with them and headed back closer to the stage where my wife and I had staked out some territory. (I’m leaving out the part of the story where I screwed up the cell phone plans for getting connected with Tony prior to the show.) During this time, I also happened to bump into Kirk West and John Lynsky and had a nice discussion with them. I really appreciate them taking some time out of their evening to talk with me. John Fogerty came out with his band somewhere around 8:00. I thought to myself, hey that drummer looks like John Molo and one of the guitarists looks familiar. During the band intros, I found out that yes it was John Molo and the guitarist was Billy Burnett. John Fogerty’s been described as a meat and potatoes rocker, but it’s no stretch to say that he’s written several rock standards. He wasn’t slouching in the guitar-playing department Sunday, playing most of the lead parts himself. Towards the end of his set, he played Who’ll Stop the Rain. Maybe he was aware of the dark clouds blowing in behind him, or maybe because heck he wrote the song and it was on his setlist. In any case, within a few minutes of the end of his set, the rain and hail hammered down on us. The temperature probably dropped more than 20 degrees. Even with a rain jacket and a tarp, I was near-soaked. The canopy over the stage wasn’t very big, so the band’s equipment was covered up with plastic sheeting. That was a good thing, because the wind was blowing most of the rain onstage anyway. It was pretty obvious that unless the wind and/or rain let up, the show couldn’t go on. At one point, there was someone squeegeeing water and hailstones off of the stage floor. I began to think about the possibility of the Allman Brother’s Band’s first Montana show being cancelled. Sometime around 10:30, the rain and wind let up, so the band took the stage. Warren pulled his hair back in a pony tail, and wore a black leather jacket. Gregg said it best when he announced: “Man, this is like November in Georgia!” They opened with Revival, and the show had begun. TaperRob got the setlist right. I’ll post more in Part 2.

Pretty tragic stuff, Tony. Looked at the radar on the Weather Channel last night, looked bad. Hoped it missed the venue, obviously didn't happen. This kinda kills the whole vibe of our family here, we were pulling so much for you. The bitterness will pass, but not for a while. Please keep fighting. I still haven't met you.

Bird, I thought about you a lot today...felt so bad about the way things turned out. All of us here on the guestbook were excited for you and felt your enthusiasm leading up to the event and now feel your frustration. Hang in there, Man - better times are ahead...any way you could make it to the Fox??? JNB

I should leave the posting on this Montana show to Randall. That was the nice part for me, I got to meet Randall, alas, briefly..... he is indeed the nice guy as his posts always show. The Montana show.... I shouldn't even post on it. It was a weird experience. I'll never try anything besides lounging at home on day 2 after shot again.... I hit the wall and didn't even hear a song..... I hope Randall did and will report.... There was a series of venue problems and scheduling idiocy that set the stage for the weather to flat kill the show. They had issues (electrical I believe) that prevented opening the gates.... So for a 6:30 start by Chris Robinson's New Earth Mud, it wound up being a later start By Ned somebodies band due to an unexplained NEM no-show. They were OK, a couple of songs were interesting, he played a uniquie National type steel guitar.... They should have bagged the opening act and saved an hour, that would have been the only hope at that point. I'm sure Fogerty didn't want to play to an field just filling up with people either. So John Fogerty played next, still nice weather overcast with sun breaks, 60 degrees max..... What amazed me about Fogerties set was hit after hit after hit, that guy really did write a lot of radio history..... He played pretty straight up versions with his tight band.... So he is done towards tenish and the fireworks werte supposed to be 10:30 after music..so by then I'm wondering how the ABB can pull off a decent set and that was before the weather. So towards the end of his set Fogerty does, in a row Who'll Stop The Rain and that other CCR song about rain and he brought it on...... the rain came, it wound up being heavy and semi horizonatl due to the wind and then it was torrential and I had a rain resistant jacket, multiple shirts a hat and was woefully un prepared, even with emergency plastic and an umbrella we shared.... then the 3/4 inch hail started and Jesus THAT hurt. I bet it was temp in the 40's easy, with wind on top and by then the drum sets were tarped and all kinds of activity on stage and people up there looking at tthe sky and waving their arms...... soundboard tarped, all hell breaking loose..... anyhow after a long time of waiting to like 10:45 I believe, we bagged it. I just hit the wall and went into shakes and my body said find shelter. I cussed God, the weather, these stupid meds, and the idiots that organized that mess....... For 3 bands, they needed a 5:30 or maybe 6:00 start, and also real tight down time between acts, and even then the max they could have got was hour and a half for the main acts. Fogerty did get that for him at least..... but when he was done and then the weather broke loose till almost 11, and it still rained after just more reasonably normal, not the raging hurricane stuff.... Anyhow there is my non report.... the lodge we stayed at was full of people for the show, talked and overheard many this morn at the continental breakfast area, only 2 stayed for the ABB, everybody else bagged it.... One of the two left after not all the ABB songs, said "Fogerty was good" the other did stay for the end of ABB and said "XXXXXXX" I can't reprint second hand negativity, but it wan't very nice re the music. (note: I can't picture a musician playing in like maybe sub 40 degree with wind chill trying to play guitar or keyboards so I think poor ABB comments were rightfully biased and situation based) My final rub was being hearing them in the distance from my window, but it was like after 11:00 to maybe 11:50 they played, 45-50 minutes I guess...... Randall can confirm, I was a couple miles away..... Not whining really, kind of wondering WTF with my luck, but I tried, I can say I gave it the boy scout rah-rah.... dig this, the final irony in this future repressed memory for me tale, is WE HAD TO SMUGGLE IN AN UMBRELLA! Yes, these idiots that organized this had that on the LONG list of unallowed items. Tons of the fold up little chairs were turned away.. only the ground hugger POS types..... So we had to leave ours of course..... I tell ya, I love my part of Montana, but these promotors down there were an embarrassement and kind of an insult to the ABB who travelled so far. to put them in that 11:00 predicument in the first place. BTW, the weather was like that the week leading up, like duh..... don't schedule with any time factoring...... don't know, a lot of people were there for their first ABB experince and it could have happened to a greater degree (or at all), weather and all........ if you read this far, you lead a really boring damn life, haha go get a life, will ya?

Well Folks - pollstar.com as well and this page seem to indicate that Charlotte's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater will be the last stop for this summer's run on Saturday 10-2-2004. I'm kicking around some ideas for a pool party before the show. I live real close to the venue and it seems like a good way to have some good clean fun before the end of the line when we all become midnight riders and head back where it all begins. So, if anybodys interested in getting together for some food, cold frothy beverages, and jams from the best damn band in the land PM me and refernce the Buzzard Rock Summer 04 ABB fun fest!

hey all this is my late review from the gorge. It was a fantastic night of music. The allmans set was over two hours and rocked the whole way through. I honestly thought that the mt jam would be the last song but they decided that was not enough and launched into a huge whipper. Derek seemed a bit low in the mix but warren's guitar was booming. I felt he definatley stole the show. It was great to hear him so enthused and loud. The dead set was over three hours and kicked off with a wicked shakedown. Other highlights include jackstraw casey jones playin other one cryptical terrapin (the wheel playin reprise lovelight with DT) and an after midinight encore with warren giving the crowd a little pat on the but for the ride home. Everything was great, the camping lot was rocking till the wee hours of the morning as usual. The gorge truly is an inspiring place and it came shining through in the music. Warren's endurance is really starting to become legendary and everybody seemed very excited about his playing and singing. All and all a huge night of music with some of the greats. I'll post some more after Idaho tommorrow. The boys are on fire though. take care ty
