Prayers to everyone in Charley's path...get out of the way if you can. Just ran across this item from today's Minneapolis Star-Tribune: 13 August 2004 - Star-Tribune WHY'D YOU GO AND LEAVE US LONELY, BOYS? A couple months ago, a handler for Los Lobos told us that the East L.A. rock vets had turned down a chance to perform on the Latin Grammy Awards telecast because they had already booked dates at the Minnesota State Fair bandshell Sept. 1-2. Obviously, the Grammys gig would have been better, but the guys didn't want to bow out of the commitment. Flash forward to last week, when another ``Los'' rock band, hot Texas trio Los Lonely Boys, cited exhaustion and canceled their tour with the Allman Brothers Band, including the Aug. 31 gig at the Minnesota State Fair. Now guess which nationally televised awards show Los Lonely Boys have just been added to appear on Sept. 1?

Looks like Punta Gordo is getting the very worst. Hope the McDonalds' house survives the storm surge. And that there's enough left of Carol's beautiful garden to start over.

I talked to Carol several times yesterday and in to last night. They were getting the first bands of storms off Charley late last night. She, Kevin and the kids were planning on heading out this morning. They were "going to Daytona" *smile*... I haven't heard today, but I'm sure they've headed out. Thoughts and prayers going up for my buds. This storm is nasty. Debbie, I hope you are safe over in Boynton. Let us know!

Everyone, please say a prayer for Carol and Kevin. Charley with 145 mph winds is right over Punta Gorda now.

Linnie, I think if you check moviefone (why don't you just tell the movie you want to see) they will have more accurate times. I saw Festival Express last week, and I think you will love it. There is a scene with Rick Danko, Jerry Garcia, Janis Joplin, and Bobby Weir amongst others and they are completely twisted on Canadian Club and gel tabs doing a sing along. Bob Weir in the commentary claims, "I think we definitely achieved lift off that night." It is some of the finest rock n roll documentary footage you will ever see. Just classic stuff. Buddy Guy's performance is fantastic too, as are the Band's performances. Great movie.

Happy Friday The 13th Folks, Thanks to all of you for the beautiful birthday messages....I had the bestest birthday ever and each and every one of you made it that much more special  Thinking of all our FLA family...praying for a miracle that Charlie will soften his blow. Prayers to Jessica and family  We had a great time at the Lynyrd Skynyrd show last night. They paid a nice tribute to the late Lacy VanZant, very special. It was a short show tho', I think 1 hr 35 min. One thing I noticed...their fan base were very cool people, the odd one but hey you get that at every show. And they love their band....as it should be. Made me happy to watch them singing their songs, dancing and cheering them on. Kinda reminded me of another band(s) that have that same fan devotion 😉 Heck we even bought us some LS t-shirts 😎 Thanks again folks...see you on the road. Later, Karen ps - Lana, thanks and I wish I seen Gavin last night....Midnight Rider, whoo hooo 🙂

According to LLB (or fans, I forget), for whatever that's worth, they've been on the road for the last 13 months straight. Even Warren gets his breaks in here and there, and he probably travels better...

Well the hurricaine is bearing down on me. A good time to watch the new Radiators DVD. Just saw that Julia Child passed away. Man, she was a real firecracker. Always wanted to meet her. Karl Denison at Jannus Landing in St Pete on 9/16, so there are blue skies on the horizon. EAPFP

Best luck and wishes for all who are in the path of Charley. I know there are a lot of fans and musicians in the extended family in Florida. I hope everyone gets thru safely with minimal loss. Talked with Ernie (Cruzpro from Denver) yesterday-another gb connection made and we are going to meet up for the Dickey Betts concert 8/27. He actually claims to be a year older than me and since Old Coot is a youngster to me, that's saying something. It appears he also goes with his daughter to shows, so we both have the second generation thing going. Long live live music!!!

I was just watching the trailor for the new Tom Dowd movie, it looks pretty damn good. There should be more movies like this and Festival Express. Might be a good weekend to take that in, as it's suppose to rain on the east coast.

I was just watching the Weather Channel and they were doing a report from Key West. In the background, there was a store that was all boarded up and written in big red letters was: Charley Blows. I love the simple humor.

Yeah, they just warned eveyone to get to high ground. SOunds like this is the last chance they are giving people. This storm seems to have strengthened quite quickly.
