Listening to nothin but Duane today, like I do every Oct.29th. Want to say that every comment and sentiment expressed here today reflects how I feel about Duane Allman.Soundtrack to our lives indeed.
Hard to believe ,but in the days before the internet, news travelled much more slowly. I remember reading about his accident in the issue of Rolling Stone that had Grover Lewis' ABB road trip story. Still have it too.RIP Brother Duane Allman.
Happy Birthday PAT!!!!!!

RIP Duane - Thank God you and your crew of madmen wrote, played and lived the soundtrack of my life. Hopefully this year my buddy Francis got to sit down and jam on his harp with you and Berry.
Man, I didn't see how things could get any worse on the gb, then somebody finds out I have a birthday! I know how this happened...anyway, thanks everybody for your good wishes, ya'll are a GREAT BUNCH!
the spirit of Duane Allman lives and shines as brightly as it ever has. He was truly one of the most remarkable forces in American culture in the 20th century, possessed of the ability to inspire millions during his brief life on Earth and the ability to inspire millions in the decades that have followed. I feel lucky to have seen him play three times and blessed to have the joy given me by his legacy right to this very moment. Thank you Skydog.
Hi guys, this is my first post in the guestbook.

Brother Duane LIVES ON!!!!
It seems like only yesterday.
I was attending my high school's "Halloween Dance" on the night of Oct. 29, 1971. Late that evening during the show, the band announced to the crowd that Duane had died that day (news must have traveled through a "musicians' telegraph," so to speak). We were stunned. The band then played an ABB number in his memory.
I'm reminded today of G.A.'s quote on the back of the booklet that came with the D.A. Anthology LP--this may not be exact, but it's close: "To have known such a person as Duane--of which there can be only one--as a brother seems to me a God-given privilege. He affected me greatly with his life, love, and music. Long live the spirit of Brother Duane Allman."
Amen to that. Play on, SkyDog. We miss you. The Road Goes On Forever....
I wanted to post this message in memory of Duane. 33 years ago today. He really changed my life, never will forget first time I heard fillmore east, stormy monday especially, thats what I going to listen to all day, also going to jam for him today, RIP Skydog
God Bless to Brothers Duane and Berry! Thanks for what you gave us all. For 34 years no matter how dark life may get I only have to turn to what you gave us all to find the light.
Peace
Michael

A big Guest Book happy birthday to Brothers HoraceGammet and PatrickCrenshaw!
Stormy, I'm so sorry for your loss -- you and your friend Tom's family will be in my thoughts and prayers today.
Duane Allman changed my life, as he did so many others.
I'll never forget October 29, 1971 -- I was driving my VW van listening to WPLO, rocking out as they played 3 or 4 Brothers songs in a row, and thinking how great it was they were playing my favorite music without break. Then the DJ came on and announced that the songs had been played in honor of Duane Allman, who had died in a motorcycle accident earlier in the day. Words can't describe the devastation I felt. Writing about it today -- 33 years later -- my eyes still tear up.
I also grieve for my best friend of 35 years, Ray Pavlovic, who died on this day in 2001. R.I.P. Brother Ray and Brother Duane.
