It seems like only yesterday. I was attending my high school's "Halloween Dance" on the night of Oct. 29, 1971. Late that evening during the show, the band announced to the crowd that Duane had died that day (news must have traveled through a "musicians' telegraph," so to speak). We were stunned. The band then played an ABB number in his memory. I'm reminded today of G.A.'s quote on the back of the booklet that came with the D.A. Anthology LP--this may not be exact, but it's close: "To have known such a person as Duane--of which there can be only one--as a brother seems to me a God-given privilege. He affected me greatly with his life, love, and music. Long live the spirit of Brother Duane Allman." Amen to that. Play on, SkyDog. We miss you. The Road Goes On Forever....
