FRAUD ALERT!!!!! I recently received an e-mail from PayPal, saying my account was due to be suspended because of what appeared strange to their "account fraud department" (or something like that). I went to PayPal.com, reset my password, and everything seemed in order. So I called PayPal, and while on hold, the "voice" said "PayPal will never send and e-mail addressing you as "dear valued customer"". Sure enough, that's how my email from the phony PayPal folks ws addressed. I swear.....Is nothing sacred? Be vigilant. Horace EAPFP

Randy, you are so very welcome..The beautiful orchid you sent, way back when, bloomed a single, gorgeous blossom Christmas Day..You can imagine how much that meant to Kevin, myself and family....You are one in a million....Uncle Pat..my heart and prayers go out to you and your family, as well..My sweet Mother-in-law always said, the 3 most difficult things in life, dealing with the loss of a loved one, divorce, and being forced to move from a treasured home, or "heartland" as she called it. She was a very wise , very much loved, woman. Her hard life sweetened her... Praying that you and your family can keep the lovelight shining. Everyone makes mistakes...few tell the truth ...I admire your honesty very much so....It reminds me of my sweet Kevin, my love...the most honest man I know...To my favorite Cowboy, my prayers and love to you and your beautiful ladies, too..Our pets are our family... the joy and love they give to us, comes with the ultimate price....esp at such a tender age as your daughter...I agree with those who mentioned seek Shelter pets..We did, when our need was great.. and though the really deep south of Punta Gorda, may be no place for a young ,healthy vibrant Irish Setter..our Fiona , beat and crippled from wandering homeless on the streets for nearly a year...was the shining light of our life for many a year , and I will be forever grateful to the fool who turned her out . Some things are simply meant to be...Tan Dan..if you are out there..where did you say you called to change from UPS 2 day- air, to Will Call (Wannee tix) I misunderstood about the shipping in 2 days ,thing..I cant commit to being here everyday 9-5, until they decide to ship those tix! (requires signed receipt) i need a day off every now and then. Congrats to all the football heroes! esp those with the grace to practice good sportsmanship. Stay warm Ya'll! we took Lucille out riding all day yesterday...As the sun dipped into the West, temps plummetted to the 30's..Im not sure what kind of wind-chill temp that translates to, at 60 mph...but it was just enough to feel good, and call it a day...eapfp, Ca

Neil, unclepat, wish I had words to ease your hearts. There are none. Times like these are part of being a person. Sometimes the hurting doesn't last too long, sometimes it never completely goes away. Take care, and know that you are loved. Carol, thank you for the beautiful print, and family photo. Looks like the Falcons didn't make it to Philly after all. They never showed up. EAPFP

Neil: Sorry about your loss. Pets are very lucky when they are in good homes, as apparently yours is. Mara and I were talking about the very thing you brought up in your post, i.e. appropriate environments for pets. You mentioned your brred of pet needs a lot of room to run about. We were discussing that, plus, personally I feel it is very inhumane to have a pet that is in an environment that does not suit them. To have an Alaskan sled dog for example in the deep South in the summer must be awful for those breeds. We have a miniture Schnauzer (Max) as our little boy (at least he thinks he is human). He is a very loving pet and I would recommend this breed highly. They do not shed, are very comfortable living indoors, and have a great disposition and are very smart. Best of luck choosing your new friend. Rick Tomlinson

It's hard to lose your "best friend" don't do as I did and wait to long before you get another companion. You can never replace them, and its going to be hard not to compare, but go to a shelter and maybe you can rescue a little pup who needs a home bringing joy to both of you.

I am on my way to euthanise my Border Collie Kiva. She has been a good friend and companion for the last ten years. Last week she went blind, Border Collies have a genetic disposition, but was getting along fine. She did not eat saturday so i knew something was up. She must have had a stroke as she lost all control of her back legs and then her front. She is not in pain so we just thought we would let her go on her own as we all lied around and spent one more day with her. The reason I really want to post is although she has been a wonderful companion I really feel this breed needs to be a working dog. They are incredibly smart and get bored easily. There are natural herders and need lots of room to run, ALL day. I have a real sense of remorse that she lead a life imposed by myself. If you ever think you want one of these dogs and do not live in the country , have a job that requires 8 hrs a day away from home, live in a city, please consider another breed. God bless Kiva, she has been a dear friend.
