Neil: Sorry about your loss. Pets are very lucky when they are in good homes, as apparently yours is. Mara and I were talking about the very thing you brought up in your post, i.e. appropriate environments for pets. You mentioned your brred of pet needs a lot of room to run about. We were discussing that, plus, personally I feel it is very inhumane to have a pet that is in an environment that does not suit them. To have an Alaskan sled dog for example in the deep South in the summer must be awful for those breeds. We have a miniture Schnauzer (Max) as our little boy (at least he thinks he is human). He is a very loving pet and I would recommend this breed highly. They do not shed, are very comfortable living indoors, and have a great disposition and are very smart.
