Haven't heard it, can't say. Well, after missing my first Beacon Run ever last year, I don't think that I can do that again. I'm mulling a quick jaunt down the road to catch the show on the 12th. I've lined up a place to stay, but I'll need to scrounge a ticket and find out about the appropriate pre-parties. I am planning on sneaking in my dog again - if anybody remembers that 😉 Any knowledge that could help would be appreciated.

Abi's favorite song by Willie is It Ain't Necessarily So. When she was like 3 she would ask me to play the chicken song over and over again, lol... We still listen to that song many times when we are on the road.:)

If you listen closely to the Cingular commercial, it's Dickey's note for note riffs, but it's definitely not from EAP. To me, it sounds edited, it also sounds like someone else covering it.

You are not the only one-I have had trouble for 2 days just getting on and now I can't send a pm. ILABB emailed with the same problem. Rowland has a problem with some machine gun threads clogging things, so maybe they are messing with the site ,or he is messing with them, or just changing things to keep it moving.

Oh, and I saw the "beginning in Chicago" part of that, but the Codetalkers' web-site has nothing currently listed between April 9th and April 29th. So I was thinking they might start in Chicago BEFORE April 15, and then swing down to Florida for Wanee Fest with Jimmy in tow. Here's hoping.....that'd be sweet too.

I see the rumors are true about Jimmy Herring joining The Codetalkers on a part-time basis. I wonder if "mid-April" includes April 15 for the "To Be Announced" slot on the Mushroom Stage at Wanee Fest. Seems like Jimmy will be there anyway if Frogwings is indeed playing Wanee Fest. http://www.jambands.com/News.phtml?newsfile=redesign_news220.html#3-1-11 Jimmy Herring and The CodeTalkers This past fall, guitarist Jimmy Herring sat in with the The CodeTalkers during their set at MagnoliaFest. Now he is rejoining his longtime fellow traveler in Zambi, Col. Bruce Hampton, for two and a half weeks beginning in mid-April. Herring will perform with the CodeTalkers during a stretch of shows that will begin in Chicago and route down to New Orleans. A month later Herring will rejoin the group for a headlining appearance at SmileFest. --

I love to hear Willie pick too, he has the most distinct tone , easily recognizable as Willie. One song in particular comes to mind, " Angels Flying Too Close To The Ground"..... there's some sweet guitar in that tune! Willie has several Box Sets, Box of Willie from 2003 is a great choice to go with. Bird, I miss ole Waylon! Waylon and Willie were the best! Here's a nice bio on Willie..... I love the line, "It doesn't matter who holds the deed, Willie owns the land!" http://www.lonestarmusic.com/biography.asp?id=44

Also, any mandatory Willie catalog includes Wanted: The Outlaws.... good call on Red Head Libby, and anybody exploring Willie better buy all the Waylon stuff too

Somebody's talkin' 'bout Willie??!! Well now, I must chime in. My favorite Willie album is definitely Red Headed Stranger, Columbia 1975. Ya gotta start there! 😉 Next up, a beauty recorded at Muscle Shoals and Wexlerized is Phases and Stages. If ya wanna get back to the early years and see what makes Willie who he is, imho.....one of the finest songwriters to ever grace the planet, go with Crazy: The Demo Sessions, Sugar Hill 2003. Enjoy!

It sounded like the original version to me. Definitely edited, but you could hear Dickey's solo in parts.

Mrmilas, Woodstock is in the "quiet corner" of CT in the northeast. I am 10 miles from the MA & RI state lines.

I wonder if the Cingular commercial used the "Melissa" off of the 'One More Try' CD? That version was recorded in September 1968, and is very different than any other version that I've heard.

A Willie cd I love is entitled, I think, "Milk Cow Blues." It's Willie's renditions of some real blues classics, includes Susan T on two songs, Francine Reed, BB King, Dr. John, Keb Mo' and quite a few others. I highly recommend it.
