Just received a call from Brenda Griffin letting me know that her mother, who she has been taking care of for the past four years, passed away this morning. Please keep Brenda and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.... Helen
"She gets to quarantee this dog that attacked my son on HER property...and with her dynamic expertise on animal behavior/psycology,she gets to determine whether or not this dog is a threat and anything further should happen!"
Krishna,
Was this a regular police officer or animal control officer who made the determination? I know where I live at (and this is true with most localities), if a dog bites someone, that dog is removed to the local animal shelter for a period of 10 days to determine whether it has rabies or not. I defintely I would go to the officer's superior and ask "why" this wasn't done and I would definely being "raising Hell" about it.
Krishna sorry to hear about your son getting attacked by that dog. What gets me is the lettting the woman use her "expertise" to decide if the dog is a threat. Maybe someone with a 30 06 rifle and a good scope should use their expertise on that mutt.
Krishna,
Sorry to hear about your kid getting bit by the dog and police not really doing anything about it. Similar thing happen to wife several years ago. She was walking my dog, Thor who was a puppy at the time when a dumbass neighbor left his screen door open and his two pit bulls attacked both my wife and my dog and they weren't even on his property. Fortunately, the guy heard the commotion and raced out and got the dogs off her before any real serious damage had been done to my wife and my puppy. Of course, we called our county Animal Control officer and he came out and did basically nothing except "played" with the pit bulls and came by to tell us he thought they were "nice dogs". Nevertheless, my wife suffered a sprained ankle and my dog suffered a broken rib in the attack so we presented the "neighbor" with a bill for my wife's ER visit, my dog's vet bill and the amount that my wife lost in wages missing work because of the sprained ankle. The neighbor, asshole that he was, refused to pay, saying something along the lines "how do I know that these amounts are right?" So, I said "fine, see in you court" and called my attorney. Took about 18 months or so, but finally his homeowner insurance paid off the claim which by that time also included the amount my attorney charged to handle the case. In addition, and I found this out later, his homeowner's insurance also threaten to drop him if he didn't get rid of the dogs (and he did).
FYI, anybody reading this, if you own a large dog, you might want to check with your insurance company on whether or not you're covered in case the dog bites somebody, lot of insurance companies nowadays have breed restrictions.
So Krishna, if I was you I would present the "crazy old dog lady" with a bill for all damages you and your son incurred in this dog attack. If she doesn't pay, then hire an attorney and sue. Also, you might to check with your city/county commisioner and see whether or not there some regulations concerning the number of dogs that one person can have on their property. If the "crazy old dog lady" is in violation, then I would file a complaint with the city/county and she WILL be served with a summons.
Good Luck, Krishna and I hope it all works out.
 Lammie! Pics will be headed your way, indeed!
Krishna,
Sorry about your son, I hope he heals from the incident and as Carol posted, I hope it doesn't leave him fearful of dogs. I hope you got a copy of the police report and I definitely would give the PD a call, ask to speak to the shift supervisor on that day.
Animal Control laws vary from state to state, county to county..... Here in GA, in my county, we have leash and containment laws. Call your local Animal Shelter to see what can be done. In most cases like this, I feel an animal should never be turned over to the owner for quaranteen. Here in Hall County, when an animal attacks someone, it is taken to the Animal Control Center for quaranteening , it's tested for rabies and the owners are usually facing misdemeanor charges.....simple battery!
She is as responsible for her dogs actions as she is for her own actions in my book. Good luck and keep pushing. 30 dogs? Hmmmmm, does she have a kennel license?
I love dogs, they are man's best friend, but an aggressive dog spells danger.
grey day in deecee, heading for the national cathedral for a scottish service...bagpipes and all...
it's an impressive building and should be an interesting spectacle...
Q: what's the difference between bagpipes and an onion?
A: no one cries when you cut up a bagpipe!
keep on jasssin'!
How does that work? Krishna'a kid is bitten by a dog multiple times and the owner of the dog gets to decide? I would call the local news , etc Krishna and put some heat on those in charge.
That is ridiculous. I love dogs but if a dog bites/attacks a kid it should be put down. Hope you son heals physically and emotionally from his wounds and encounter.
Krishna, so sorry for the terribly traumatic experience your son had....This world can be crazy mean and is full of idiots...A vicious dog in the hands of anyone who obviously cant control them, is living madness.....I will keep your family in my prayers, and truly hope this does not turn him off to either dogs or Police....
Love and great vibes to Drew, Libby and Amber on Prom night....Oh my!!!
Kevin and I took the day off to ride with good friends yesterday, and didnt realize Tampa and Orlando tix went on sale till late last night......Nobody to blame but myself for lousy tix.....One of the riders (liked my Derek- t) mentioned he heard ABB tix were on sale on radio, and I have to say, it was worth the tixmaster charge to be able to log in from our friends computer , despite the midnight hour, and get tix as soon as I heard.....Turned out, friend's treat, since we treated to that GAF show in Ft Myers.......It will be their first ABB show since when they were kids in Mass, way back when.....Its going to be a grand evening...
I did notice that the Skynard site had a registered fans only /pre-sale , so for those Peacheads looking for better seats to other upcoming LS/ABB shows , Ya'll might want to check into that...
Another treat, a friend of a friend showed up after our ride, for dinner party, and brought a gorgeous old guitar..one of the prettiest, velvety sounding I have ever heard......Excellent player, he just came off the road from traveling with an Irish band (I forget the name, maybe Clancey-something?) He also noticed Peachy t, started playing a most incredible Lizzy Reed intertwined with Melissa.....Breathe-taking sound....The guitar was a very small (3/4 size) 1947 Gibson....He insisted we take a pix with it, and says it once belonged to an old friend, Allen Woody......and was a gift, after he passed....If He remembers to send me the pix, I will be happy to upload/share.......Im wondering if any of Ya'll might recognize it....
Good vibes to prayers on this beautiful Sunday.....eap, Ca
HEMLOCK,good Old River street has change'd alot since the (60's).Most of the Merchant & Cotton Warehouses had become Vacant & realy Run down back then.Chatham County Historical Soceity got together with some BIG $ People and started Re-Building Her,took Years to get the look You see now. When I was young,We didn't go to the River much because there wasn't anything to do or see on River Street. If We wanted to get outta the Swamp Grass,We would go to Tybee Island or to Kings Ferry on (17) & Swim with the Baby Gators.Years ago when My first Wife moved from Texas to Savannah with Me,We went to Lebanon Plantation on a walking Tour.this Older Lady was telling Her Children that there were no Cars or Bikes in the 1800's,she was talking about walking the Entrance Driveway to the Main House...it's (2.8) Miles long.I had the hardest time convineing Her that in the 1800's this Driveway did not Exsist at all!Alot of Slave Plantation's did have a Main Entrance, but this place never did until about the 1930's.Most of the structures face'd the Intercoastal Water ways or swamps..I told the Lady thats why when You Enter the Main Grand Driveway,You're Looking at the back of the Big House....She clearly was not from the South...Dam I miss HOME~~~~~5th is better than 6th HEMMY...
Good mornin' sweet family,
Speaking of photos, thank you Nancy (Ecosense) for the 40 pix from Wanee we just uploaded! :clapping:
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Well Lawdy be, Libby! Mr. Drew off to the prom! Well we will certainly be waiting for some photos of this special event! 😀
Now, were they boxers or briefs you had to iron?
Be sure to give the lad my best. :dog: woof!
Hey lovely happenin family!!
It's been a CRAZY coupla days round here!!
On a POSITIVE note....we got a new van this week!!
On the NEGATIVE note...
My 12yr & 8yr old sons were riding their bikes on our road....and my 12yr old was attacked by a dog!!
He got bit 3 times on both his legs....I was freakin to say the least!!
We had the ambulance & police here and the old lady(whose dog was the culprit...which is one of 30 dogs that she owns....instead of a crazy ol cat lady, she's a crazy ol dog lady!!)
Anyways...she was crying to the police and guess what?!
She gets to quarantee this dog that attacked my son on HER property...and with her dynamic expertise on animal behavior/psycology,she gets to determine whether or not this dog is a threat and anything further should happen!
Is that some sh*t or what?!
So I guess if my son would've been mauled to death....I would've MAYBE got a better response from the police!!
Gotta love cops!!
The best part was trying to explain for an hour after the police left to my sons WHY they should STILL trust police...even though in their eyes...they failed them!
Nick should be alright....but the situation STILL sucks!!
PLEASE send this sista a lil bit of those POSITIVE vibes my way...we could use as many as we can get!!
~Krishna
But how will I ever get to meet you then, Libby? 🙁
Congrats to you Libby and your son. Prom is an exciting time in youth's life. And someday they'll realize they did it all with our help and love!
Dan,
Thanks for the kind words, my friend. I think those who know me well and have become my friends know that my choice of not attending concerts has no bearing on my being a friend. I know what you're saying, bro'.... what's coming up at Variety? 😉 I'm thinking of takin' a short trip over Gadsden way very soon!....... Gotta check out Boogie McCain's and hang out with Randy!
I'm glad you all had a great time at Wanee. I enjoyed all the posts.
Tonight is Prom night for my son and his girlfriend. I think Drew must be nervous, he just asked me to iron his underwear! I just finished starching and ironing his darn tuxedo shirt, he messes with me I'll starch his drawers!
Ticketmaster and the scalper world are the same thing. How do you think the scalping companys get the best seats! Ticketmaster sucks and we are stuck with them.
Concerning Ticketmaster, what a lot of people don't know is they make their money on the service and convience charges, which is why a lot of promoters and bands use them. The bands and promoters don't have to pay them much of the face value (I'm guess no more that $1 or $2 per ticket). People suggest that bands sell their own tickets but truth be told, that's an expensive , pain in the ass thing for bands to do, hence we're stuck with Ticketmaster. A lot of people don't think how much it cost to run a nationwide ticketing service that anyone can access on-line or through phones. Ticketmaster is just providing a necessary evil, I sort of put them in the same catagory as death and taxes. Not a damn thing you can do about it. Personally anymore I don't need front-row or up-close tickets, so I generally wait to the day of the show and see what becomes available at the venue's ticket office. If good seat is available, I'll buy it, if not, then I'll buy a 300 series cheap seat or lawn seat. In any case, I'm there at the show, I'm enjoying the music and that's all that really counts.
Last year I got my tickets to Red Rocks thru the SCI site. Skipped Ticket bastard charges. This year I stood in line for a couple of hours and got the tickets at the Casino and skipped the Ticket Bastard charges. wish the ABB management would do ticketing like the Dead and SCI and some other bands.
However if I have to go through Ticket Bastard to get tickets to Red Rocks I am not gonna let that stop me from going to Red Rocks, its just too good to let it pass me by.
hey wood...
Martin Sexton is a great performer... but completely unlike RR&FB... His energy is more focused on vocals.... with an incredible voice he sings some falsetto and then some gravely baritone.... He performs solo and would be a mix of folk and blues... sometimes a little jazzy too....
He does good covers... Dear Prudence... couple U2 tunes...
He likes a lot of crowd interaction... singing harmonies... or call and response.. scating... and he quite often plays different versions of his songs (different tempo/diff timing)...
I would definitely catch both nights... totally different energy then RR but he has great spirit and writes great stuff.... he has a lot of shows for free download at www.archive.org - I suggest the 1-31-04 show if you wanna hear a good show....
Peace
