Just a footnote to all of the tragic news swirling around. Just saw on CNN that the great R.L. Burnside blues musician and Fat possum records owner has died in Mississippi at age 79. He had recently resurfaced and guided the North Mississippi all stars to fame. He will be missed. On another note. I dont know about you guys, but its killing me to see American citizens in such pain and suffering/ This is america and these scenes are very disturbing. I dont care who the hell you are, liberal or conservative, I think its about time that we take care of our own in this country first . wouldnt it be amazing to actually spend some money on the desperately poor in our society before we spend it at the expense of tradgedy and body counts?

The thing New Orleans has taught us all, is that life is to be lived. They find a reason to celebrate every day of the year. A huge slice of real American culture is NOLA. We need to celebrate as much as we need to take care of each other. Bird, grab your favorite instant live and turn it up to 11 and dance.

You are the man Clay. Like Tony, I wish there was a way I could take in somebody from NO. If anyone hears about a network moving people, please let me know. I know Clay and I have opposite political views, but he did not try to make political hay out of it, as our one well known crap stirrer did-it's why I always discount his "nice" posts. As I always say, what do you expect from someone whose tagline is an insult to a founding member of the band whose gb he stirs crap on. Some people don't understand that even if they do good works they can erase a lot by causing trouble. Even conservative newspapers and hosts are wondering what is taking our federal government so long in getting a food, water and aid drop going until they can physically remove the trapped people. I wish I could physically help. We have donated and will keep doing so. I think of the money I spend on entertaining myself and know I can cut back. So, I am sorry Karen and Lynn wont make it here again this year for Red Rocks, but mightily applaud what they are doing.

Fires are now breaking out throughout N'awlins...We saw homes spontaneously blaze to the ground for months after Charley blew through....Electrical wiring has been compromised by water, insects and rodents ,forced into homes and structures to escape the flood. this science of Hurricanes needs much more study with the tremendous growth that the coasts are experiencing....We were all but ordered NOT to evacuate as Charley approached.....Had it not been for a frantic call from Judi Petty to "get out!"and "I wont take no for an answer!" Kevin and I would have never loaded up the family and left ...as it were, we were the ONLY vehicle on the road...We honestly believed we were going for a ride in the country and dinner out. As predicted, this storm season , like last , has been extremely active..There are already 3 more Tropical Depressions lined up and ready to roll...One upgraded to TS and named Lee. Jeannie..you must be very proud to work for a company with so much heart and soul.... Brent and Rick.....you are both right....but looking at opposite sides of a coin... Prisoners have been released from prisons ..This is something I simply can not understand...Looting food/diapers for babies is survival...But now, shots are being fired on hospital patients, eldery and police..women are being raped...Order must be restored by whatever means it takes. The Police and the Guard hands are being forced. Tony.. :reddancer: You have had your share of tears..more than anyone can know...Your time for happiness is now. :waving: Ge! We LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! eap, Ca

Lord knows we need some good news--congrats on the positive report, Tony. If you're going to be all better, I may donate some black socks to victims. Way to go, man!!! Looks like WalMart "donated" its entire inventory in the greater New Orleans area--including fixtures, windows, etc. I have a client (RN) that left today for a week in Hattiesburg, MS. They have no water, no power, none expected for at least 2 weeks. Hattiesburg is quite a ways inland, not one of the "hard hit" areas.

OK darn it I am sill undetectable on virus and doc may have me do 55 weeks (I'm at 30 now) instead of the orignal 72 weeks, since I am responding so well. Bottom line, a med free Beacon 06 may be in store. I feel guilty even rejoicing in light of the sorrow down south..... take it as you can I guess, I wish I could adopt a family from NO now....

hey, did anyone else pick up the new Clapton album? its very mellow, quite the 'adult alternative' but nice in a background, dinner music type way.... loving white light being sent down to the south from nj.....it is certainly a dire situation. the NJ State National Guard is collecting cases of bottled water for the victims....between 8am and 4pm you can drop off no less than a case of water at any of the armories in NJ. God bless the suffering......

Heartbreaking as it is, I can't stop watching the news. Families looking for husbands, wives, kids, moms, dads....I can't imagine what it's like. Loosing everything and not knowing when things will ever, IF ever, be the same. Hopefully we can help with prayers and donations. Check the FEMA site for a list of organizations that you can donate to. http://www.fema.gov/ Hey Tony, don't keep the good news to yourself. I want to know! 🙂

Its time to have charity to start at home for a change. We come to the worlds aid whenever something like this happens, wheres all the folks we have helped in the past? Hundreds of Billions have been spent on a war in Iraq, well I think this is a bigger national security issue, time to take care of ourselves. Congress better come up with dollars to rebuild the infrastructure, the schools the hospitals and peoples business's and homes. This is Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana we are talking about, not Baghdad, not Kuwait. This is our own and its time that the US was a priority to itself for a change. Besides sending charitable donation you may want to let your representitives in the House and Senate know that anything less is unacceptable

Its heartbreaking to watch. I have a 6 month old daugher and when I watch these little kids literally starving to death it kills me. They have to get these people out of there, except they are being shot at when they try, so what in the hell do you do? If you drop food and water, you will see a riot the likes of which are unprecidented. Absolutely horrible.

no Eddie you're not wrong - each of the Walton heirs is worth in the neighborhood of 14 BILLION each, meaning that if they gave away a million dollars a day EACH, they'd be down to a BILLION EACH in about 30 years! I'd say they could spare more than a million!

it is hard to imagine what folks must be going through..I believe it about 96 hours since the actual strom stopped...water makes it impossible for many supply and rescue trucks to get in..red cross or salvation army donations...
