Tony, I do not doubt your knowledge and never did. I was just sharing my experience. Please don't take an offense. You know what you're talking about better than anyone I know. Not to mention you're a miracle.

The two barometers doctors use are biopsy and Viral Load test. That test tells how active and intense the virus is. Some people keep a lower level under a million, mine was 14 million and some doctors tell people with very low viral loads they can wait and decide later possibly. People with high viral loads I would think always get suggested biopsies. It is blood borne only, infection must be from a blood source to a blood source, that is why it is the norm that partners do not have it, in spite of intimacy. In normal activities there must be a contact medium sores etc. people, don't listen to me http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/ Gregg is doing a great thing, but don't get your medical info just from rock and rollers, there has been a bit of misinfo or slight tilt slant to the info at times.

Luckily, I test negative. Interesting that the people I know who test positive with no symptoms have a variety of advice from their Drs. Some say have a biopsy; some say leave it alone. I have noticed that the spouses of those who are positive that I know have never caught it after many years of sharing saliva and other bodily fluids (only "nice" way I could put that). There is so much "they" don't know that's it's scary.

Lizzie, you can test positive for the virus and never have symptoms, this make one a carrier and can pass it to others but never develop symptoms of the disease. And sometimes as everything else in life, its just the luck of the damn draw....

Pastdreams, Hep C is called the "Silent Killer" for a reason. I had it for likely 30 years. The only symptoms I had were clarity and fatigue, and those are often written off to age. By the time your liver hurts, it is shot. It is an extremely durable organ, that won't give pain off until it is horribly damaged. EVERYONE that tests positive should get a (liver) biopsy. That is the barometer of damage severity that the doctor will base the urgency of treatment basis on. Hep C is a blood borne disease that resides in the liver, chewing on, scarring, and damaging over time, that is a given, it is degree that can vary.

Yeah, how about Kim Payne? Nevertheless, it's a nice idea to do a benefit for Hep C. I lost a very close friend to liver, bladder and bone cancer resulting from it even after a transplant. I wonder what treatment Gregg has access to that is keeping him going pretty strong while my friend died a pretty horrible death. Some of the Forum people here might remember Claire and Doug. I know a half dozen people who have tested positive for the virus but have no symptoms and they've never taken any form of treatment and never gotten sick. Just a theory of mine, but if you have no symptoms, leave it alone; don't wake it up and don't bleed on anybody. Curious if there are any other people that have experienced this weird viral activity. All the people who took AZT for HIV or full blown AIDS have pretty much passed on. They had become immune to the drug cocktail that is now keeping people alive for decades. Weird science.

Awesome Benefit!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 5 year post treatment and CURED. I did 117 weeks of the chemo meds and I think I earned the cure, one 48 week TX, relapse, one 13 week and cancelled TX, and the last hurrah, the 56 week wonder that killed it. I don't even test anymore, I have been undetectable 5 years and I am not going back there...... I feel guilty, we have the people we are losing as a result, often the obits don't spell it out, but rock and roll folks with early liver failure is often the Hep C. GET TESTED, IF NEEDED GET TREATED One in fifty people in USA have this. Up to 4 million Americans. It is the number one cause of liver cancer. 10% of people with it get liver cancer. It is over 50% curable.

Hey there sweet family, Rock β€˜n Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman announces Tune In to Hep C, a public health campaign to help raise awareness of chronic hepatitis C virus infection. To help turn up the volume around hepatitis C, a one night only benefit concert featuring The Allman Brothers Band will be held at The Beacon Theatre in New York on July 27, the eve of World Hepatitis Day. β€œThere are many people who have been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C, but aren't taking action. I want to tell them, don't wait. Doing nothing is not an option; they need to talk with their doctor,” said Allman, a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band. β€œI made the decision to take action and talk to my doctor, so that I could get back to making the music I love. I want others to take that action too, and if I can help make that happen, I've done my job.” Proceeds from the benefit concert will be donated to community-based organizations that provide education and support services to people with chronic hepatitis C. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, June 22 at noon EST and are available at Livenation.com, ticketmaster.com, select Ticketmaster locations and charge by phone at 800-745-3000. If tickets remain they will be available at The Beacon Theatre box office beginning Thursday, June 23. There is a 4 ticket limit, per person. Take care and know that you are loved, Lana and Rowland

Goooood Morning ABB Site!!! Lana cant wait for the BIG Announcement....... Also just wanted to let ya'll know if you want to download or buy a GREAT CD, "John MAyer Live in LA" is unbelievably good! I downloaded it to my IPOD a couple of years ago and never listened to it that much, but the other day I was shuffling through and said "hmmmmm, let me give this a try...." And I was blown away. HE is one modern guitarist that has a been influenced by the best, He loves SRV, Jimi, B.B., and I can even hear some Duane in some of his songs especially when he is playing acoustic. I have always loved his song GRAVITY, but at the beginning of this particular one he starts it off with OTIS's "I've got Dreams to Remember" and then flows into Gravity.... :inlove: anyway if you're interested in finding a young talented guitarist who pays his respects to the real Blues...this is your guy. Look up "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" WOW..... Hope all is well with everybody, and much prayers for Nic and all others who are in need!!
