Great show in k'town last night. Sat 10 rows from the stage and the energy was palpable. The boys were on and smokin'. They commented on how the audience was enthused. dwyn/ctb, egypt, ydlm, war, same thang and come and go bluzzz. After break started with Jackie P on bass for Statesboro. A ~ 30 minute liz reed and Southbound ala brothers and sisters. GREAT SHOW!!
ATL tickets arrived safely and finally yesterday. (still say LS on the face).
We'll be heading in for all (most) of moe on Saturday. Figure, Warren or Derek will be out to jam with them for sure.

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

Got a great show in good ol' rocky top.Jack came out second song of set 2 (on Otiels P-bass no less for Statesboro) and played guitar for the rest of the set including the encore. Made it home safely after a 4 hour drive and I'm happy to report good vibes to those people starting there Carolina journey/run.
Met some fine folks from here and as usual it's wonderfull to get home sober and report in to those that "know" what an honor it is to like this band. We are indeed blessed.

Just in from Knoxville....wanted to post a few words about tonights show while they are fresh.
I've always said anytime the Brothers open with DWYNM/AMCTB that we're in for one heck of a show and the boys 'brung' it. Lots of energy and dead on playin' was coming off the stage tonight. As the band is finishing a fine execution of 'Cross" they go right into YDLM head on. The crowd went into pandemonium and the band continued to feed off the energy.
On the drive up I kept saying over and over, "Please let Jack Pearson be there!" With no opening act, I was assuming the usual break between sets, I was correct and that is when I spotted Jack side stage, just before the second set opener.
I saw Gregg walk in for second set and in the darkness thought he had changed into a Tennessee Volunteers jersey. However, when the lights came up, it was a Harley- Davidson jersey. The ole boy wears orange well!
Second set opens with Melissa and Gregg standing center stage with his acoustic. He didn't miss a lick, he was smiling and very confident in his delivery. I don't think I've ever heard Melissa played any sweeter.
THEN, Jack Pearson comes to the stage, the crowd erupts and it's on big time. Statesboro, minus Otiel, no bass??? Whaaa? I'll just be skunked!! I didn't notice Jack had Otiel's bass and I sure couldn't hear any bass, but Jack is playing Otiel's bass! Ole Libby's fumblin' for the phone ( something I rarely do, but I knew the Fox would dig this and that Same Thing stuff!);)
Yeah, we got an Otiel-less Statesboro with Warren and Jack. Heck, I was so excited I can't even remember if Derek came on for Statesboro! Derek ( I think) and Otiel rejoin the band for Same Thing and the boys launch into a three guitar and bass attack that had the unknowing spinnin' and those of us in the know looking around at each other noddin' and grinnin' our "hell yeah" grins!
Nice to see and briefly chat with WillieHoward, JNB and Greg Potter at the Hittin' The Note table along with Origapeach. Mr. and Mrs. GreatSkaught, sorry I missed y'all.
I'm exhausted and I'm sure I've made absolutely no sense, but in a nutshell, Knoxville was a show for the ages! Simply fantastic. I saw alot of joy coming from the stage and it was infectious in the audience as well.
Here's what I remember ..... DWYNM/AMCTB, YDLM, Midnight Rider Every Hungry Woman, Come and Go Blues, Egypt ( nice, this is growing on me), Woman Across The River, Melissa, Statesboro Blues, Same Thing, Dimples and IMOER, .....Encore: Southbound.

A brief candle, both ends burning.
An endless mile, a bus wheel turning.
A friend to share the lonesome times.
A handshake and a sip of wine.
Say it loud and let it ring.
That we all are a part of everything.
The present, the future and the past.
Fly on proud bird.....
Confirmed today, in addition to his 10/21 appearance with the Jack Pearson Band, in addition to his 10/22 appearance with Jimmy Hall and the Prisoners of Love, 10/29: Mr. Jack Pearson, at the Jam for Duane. Thought I'd drop by before retiring...

Don't you mind people grinning in your face.
There's one thing to bear in mind, a true friend is hard to find.
Don't you mind people grinning in your face.
Your mother she may talk about you.
Your brothers and your sisters they will talk about you too.
No matter how you're trying to live, they will talk about you still.
Don't you mind people grinning in your face.
They'll jump you up and they jump you down.
They'll try to turn you 'round and 'round.
As soon as you turn your back around
They'll try and crush you down.
Don't you mind people grinning in your face.

Two thoughts....
1. Warren Haynes is a freaking (musical and probably otherwise) Genius and virtuoso on guitar and/or vocals.
and.
2. There are some pretty cool people on the GB.

Randall, Thanks My Man!

nypeachhead, to answer your question, if I told you, I'd have to kill you...:bash:
For the record, I would like to say that for the three years following 9/11, the Beacon Hotel had drastically cut their rates. We knew those rates couldn't last forever. Please keep in mind that the increases seem to have effected the two bedroom suites as far as how drastic the rates have increased. From what I'm hearing, the one bedroom suites and regular rooms haven't been impacted as much and are still affordable.
Still wouldn't miss my Beacon for the world....
Many thanks to Libby for the phone call for me to hear "The Same Thing" - My fav and with Jackie on bass!!!!!!
