read a really great interview with Derek in the Wall St Journal. The entire thing is in the Forum under 'Anything Goes' quote from Derek..'They all stayed students, you know? They're always learning. Playing with the Allman Brothers I get that feeling, especially with Jamoe and Butch back there. They've been at it almost 40 years and they're not resting on their laurels. They keep that fire burning'... So neat to know that Derek will be touring with Eric Clapton. His incredible talent will surely be out there to a wider audience.....He's earned it and deserves it :crowd: He hasn't even scratched the surface yet. Gotta love his playing - I hope he rocks on for a long, long time :mohawk:

Good morning everybody! Hope everyone has a wonderful day. With all due respect, I love Lana and Rowland and truely wish them all kinds of happiness forever, but ............ where are the marriage jokes? As a 15 year veteran (suvivor?) of the institution (and I due mean institution) of marriage, I can certainly say that there is definately a reason they put that "better or worse" clause in there. Oh well what can you tell those crazy kids ..... I guess everybody know why the bride smiles in the wedding photos ..........

DEAR LANA AND ROWLAND, I can't tell you how happy I am for you both. I had a feeling the word was "mum" when I heard the news at Terri's party so I didn't mention it to anyone but now that the news is out, I want to shout my heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to a rare, lovely peach and her lucky partner. True love is rare....finding true love a little later in life is even harder. You two are a very lucky couple. I wish you all the best. I apologize for the delay in my relaying my excitement for you but I just spent a week down in Macon/Atlanta with Willie for his friend Scott's funeral. It was a simple and moving ceremony - ending with the singing of Desperado - his favorite tune. That's what ceremonies to celebrate life are all about - moving forward into life, love and happiness, having all your favorite people and songs surround you, and, like you say, DANCE LIKE EVERYBODY'S WATCHING. This is an extraordinary love story and I think all of us on the GB are honored to have been around while it blossomed into a sweet spring flower that will bloom forever...continually bursting forth with new petals with more and more intense fragrance and deeper, richer color. May your love grow and fluorish forever. Much love, best wishes and congratulations from Elizabeth and Willie P.

Brother WillieHoward, thank you for the mention of the Eddie Hinton documentary being shown. He touched many people with his music. His torch is still lit and the music goes on thru others today. "Down in Texas" which was written by Eddie and recorded by the Hour Glass is being played once again by CRS. Another legend seen by few is Jimmy Thackery who pays tribute to Eddie at just about every show he plays.

A few random thoughts..... Thank God its March!!! Didn't get a chance to see the band last year due to some life changes, (no.... not life changes like menopause...my wife and I had a baby...well, she had the baby). After watching the documentary on CMT about Southern Rock and seeing the interviews with the band, I started getting really fired up for my night out on the 23rd. The history of Duane at Muscle Shoals was really cool, especially the Hey Jude with Wilson Pickett. After watching that I immediately turned on the Duane Allman Anthology and listened to that. Hadn't listened to it in some time. Its quite unreal. The hair on my neck about stood up at about 2:40 seconds into the song; they light the song on fire. Don't get me wrong, I am fine with whatever the hell they want to play at the Beacon this year, because I know its going to smoke and I'll just be glad to see and hear the band that we love best..... but today I was listening to the song Well Alright by Blind Faith, the beginning sounds like something right out of the Allman Brothers, perhaps Les Bres? Yeah that would be nice...Les Bres>Well Alright>Franklins Tower>Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad>Les Bres. Ok, just kidding...just thought Well Alright would be fun to hear the band pull off. And it would be good practice for Derek playing with Clapton. :blah:

I never gave up hope, and thanks to all you wonderful folks, everyone in our group now has tickets, and we didn't have to go through scalpers to get them. Can't wait to experience the magic of my first ABB Beacon run! 🙂 THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Dayna ChiTownMuleFan

When will Derrek sleep? Hope he has a good organizer/date book - let's see, if it's June, it's the ABB, if it's July it's my band, if it's August it's Clapton... not bad for a veteran 26 year old! Congratulations!
