Butch, Since you are reading the guest book, maybe you respond to another Tony. I sent you a heartfelt thought out PM about Hep C awareness, weeks ago (I am an advocate for awareness) and some shared insights into some of the things you said regarding Gregg, and tried to politely share some info with you, as you said some confusing Hep C statements in quote. I also pointed out my thread in the Forum, 6000+ reads, with many factual articles. I recieved no response from you. Maybe if I would have talked Betts talk it would have warranted acknowledgement? Tony Hirsch Hep C Survivor Awareness Advocate Old ABB Fan New ABB Fan Dickey Fan. As you can see Butch, I can have it all...... Thank you if you read this.......

Ok Butch...I respect your opinion, but I can't condone holding a grudge against a onetime friend for life! It simply does nothing to enhance your character! I use this tagline on my posts simply because I am one of the many pissed off fans who got shortchanged when you were picking your friends! Of course you & others have made great contributions...but none are claiming to have written Liz Reed like you said you did. I really miss Duane...he would've kept this ***** together... Peace...

well alrighty then... I believe in this band now more than ever..... so many speak of brotherhood...I have been a family band member here since 03, and a member much longer, how many of you come to visit my site/sites...show support/ the "Brotherhood" or have bought my CD? to the 10 folks that did you know I am grateful....I gave over a 150 CD's away..and mostly to folks I never see here...and paid for the shipping.... I have a great Band now, was doing solo for a period but now....Kim Stone former Spyra Gyra on Bass, Guitarist Michael Reese L.A. Music Award winner, played with Mitch Mitchell,Mick fleetwood and many others, our drummer spent time with Badfinger, Iron Butterfly, his band opened for Van Halen years back.......many of you do...but many of you dont have an Idea how hard this biz is.....and when your not 20 something anymore Gad Zooks...this is the hardest thing in my life I have ever done...and still try to go forward.... Amen to the ABB for keeping on Keeping on, I would have never got into Music if it was not for those guys, everyone of them......which includes the surrounding family and roadies.... There is a lot of truth in this joke, IM not talking about the weekend warrior but Musicians who really try to get to another level.....:guitarist: Whats a Musician without a girlfriend????................HOMELESS...LOOOOOL It amazes me how some of you expect these guys after all the touring they have done ups and down to know what is in their hearts & Mind..... Change is not always understood!!! Be groovy all, Tommy

Tony. One more comment and I will bow out of this one. If our fan base is shrinking it has a strange way of showing it. Last year was a record year for us. Best attendance since the mid 70's. As they say you can't please all the people all of the time. I am not about to waste one precious minute trying to, especially someone that writes "Aways Been Betts" on all his posts. Believe it or not there were other people in the band that did make contributions. Dickey and I were friends and shared many great times together. All things change, however. I did reach a point to where I could no longer call him my friend. The reasons are non of your business. It's not good making judgements about things that you know little about. Have a good life.

Redog same pattern you have been using for some five years now put something out the bashing the band then try and say thats not what you meant you can clearly see now that you did mean it and you are bitter. You should be proud of those years keep writing that next book be positive towards the band and im sure whatever you say in it will sell more.

Mr. Trucks, you absolutely should care about my respect as I represent a very large segment of what used to be your fanbase...with statements like that, no wonder it is shrinking fast! It makes it very difficult for us to pay our hard earned money to come see you play when you represent yourself in this manner. Please use the words..."Betts was never my friend"...because that is exactly what you are saying and I think that is just untruthful! Someone is not telling the whole truth, I, for one, tend to believe the person who is not known for stabbing a back or two. RD has been genuine since '69!

Soap Opera time. Butch is wrong and I would take a lie detector to prove what I said was true. The day he said that to me it stopped me in my tracks, just as it did when Gregg said what he said. Those two statements have stuck in my brain. It broke my heart when they said those things. I took the brotherhood deep down in my soul and lived by it. To see it fall apart was a bad thing and made me lose respect for the people that I called brother. Funny thing is that Butch never came to me and ask what was up. Always taking the side of others and holding it against me. The few and they were very few times that I came to you with something, you did not have time and did not want to be bothered. Butch you did not come and talk to me as a Brother should have. You know I always put the band first in everything. I can tell you what is wrong with me in a few words. YOU TURNED YOUR BACK ON ME. That day, YOU DID SAY YOU DID NOT GIVE A G DAMN. to be exact. I will stand before the world and say that. Your memory has not been to great on things. I do speak the truth. If their is a good lord then he can strike me dead if I am not telling the truth. Word for word. Philly boy your colors are showing and they are Red.

I will simply point out that Mr. Betts and Jaimoe are two very different people. Jaimoe has been one of the dearest people on earth to me for 40 years. From the way "Tony" phrased his remark, whether or not I receive his respect is of no import to me whatsoever. I stand by my earlier statement. I would NEVER say anything of that sort about one of my dearest friends. That's just a fact.

If there is one word that could describe the band Duane Allman started in 1969, I believe that one word would be "passionate." The music is the end result of strong emotions in the souls of the players. This is the hallmark of the band. People who weren't and aren't passionate would have a hard time fitting in, IMHO. We're outsiders, of course. But we've been caught up in the passion of the music this band creates. Have been for a long time. eapfp

Mr. Trucks...I respect what you have to say! More importantly I respect your work over the years... with all due respect" it is very easy for me to believe these words you speak of Jaimoe... ...after all you are publicly telling us you don't like Betts...please be the honest guy you are and use those words instead of beating around the bush about being happy now!! on second thought...I take that back about respecting what you have to say...I'll just respect your work!!

Sorry to interrupt all this "brotherhood'' talk, but I just felt like saying that It’s gonna be a great summer in the Delawhere Valley. It started when the first ABB show of the summer was announced, at the Camden Waterfront on August 23. Then came the news that the Mule will play the beautiful Grand Opera House in Wilmington on July 24. The Grand is a Beacon-esque place with great acoustics and not a bad seat in the house. I saw DTB there a couple of years ago and it was great. Then just this week it was announced that the Soul Stew Revival is going to play at Longwood Gardens, about 20 minutes north of Wilmington, on July 2. For those who don’t know, Longwood Gardens used to be a sprawling DuPont estate and is now one of the most famous gardens in the world. It also has a nice, intimate outdoor amphitheater and, once again, there won’t be a bad seat. So anyone who is close enough, jump at the chance to catch this show. I’ve been to concerts there before and it’s a great experience. You can arrive early, tour the magnificent gardens and horticultural exhibits, and even eat at one of the two restaurants on the premises, then stroll over to the show (make that shows – Scrapomatic opens for Derek and Susan). Trust me, you’ll love it. And the best news of all – I already have tickets to all three shows! Now all I need to hear is that Dickey is going to make a First State appearance and the summer will be perfect… OK, you can go back to the arguing...

Red Dog has every right to feel the way he does.. not only were these people his employer but friends... Time and MONEY changes everything .... Brothers and Sisters... Hold dear your memories Joesph ..they are yours and only you and the rest from then are understanding of it.. We are all imitations of what the original was... We have found freindships and a sorta of brotherhood, but not like that, never again... It was a once in a life time thing and it was yours RD. That goes way back to the peace and love days... too Happy to see RD stoppin in... it's good to stir the pot...

Ok. Lana sent me the latest from Red Dog. I have tried to stay out of airing stuff in public but this one has to be answered. There has never, ever been a time that I would have ever said that "I don't give a damn about Jaimoe". That is pure crap. Red Dog and Vid had many run ins and Vid would at times ask me to help out. What incident Red Dog is referring to, I don't know. What I do know is that there is absolutely no way I would ever make a statement like that. There is little doubt that the closeness we had in those first few years were special. There is also no doubt that as we grew, married, had children and the other obligations came to be a part of our lives that there was no way to maintain that closeness. Things do change. Why Dickey is no longer with us is a subject that has been discussed, argued, you name it. It happened. We still play. I still love playing with this band and, for the first time in many years, I like all of the people I am playing with. I think that is why last year was one of the best tours I have ever been involved with. Of course it was totally different from the first few years when a group of us in our early 20's with nothing in the world but each other and the music we were playing was tearing up the country. Those years were absolutely incredible and I will forever be thankful that I was able to be a part of them. Things do change. Red Dog, I am so sorry you are so hurt and angry. I wish there was something I could do to help. Please stop this. If you can't, at least don't lie. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I COULD EVEER SAY I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT JAIMOE.
