Hop, I been following the Braves since they came to Atlanta. Listened to the first game, when Clontinger went 12 innings on opening night, lost his arm for the rest of his career, lost the game to a Willie Stargell homer. Bunch of us went over and watched them play the Dodgers for our "senior trip," Memorial Day, 1966. Used to listen to Milo on the radio, went to games all the time till they got good, priced me out of the market. Never was an avid fan, more of a casual one. But screamed my guts out for Sid Bream, like everyone else around the Southeast that night. And it was always good to know that they would be on every night, whether or not I watched. Another piece of stability in the world, long taken for granted, no longer there. Congrats to the Phillies, condolences to the Mets fans in our family.
