RickT - The Doraville mayor reinstated that guy on Wednesday, so not sure what all the hubbab has been about since then in the right-wing media. And he wasn't fired "for serving in Iraq" - as convenient a story as that might be. I don't know much about this guy, and it does seem he was unfairly dismissed, but the Doraville police department has had a reputation for years for having a bunch of redneck cops who love to wield their power just because they have it. Their police department is not much more than a fundraiser committee for the city that rivals any tax collecting authority in the country (IRS included). Going back the better part of 20 years, Doraville has had a reputation for having overly aggressive and zealous cops that rival university cops in their contempt for Joe Q. Public. Again, don't know much about this guy, good or bad, but anything the Doraville city council does to clean things up is alright by me.
