Part II Opening Act: The dTb were INCREDIBLE Fri night in a great 60 minute set. Started at 6:55 with a great Maki Madni (a song I didn't even care for until recently & it sounded down right elegant!)....in no particular order we got Kam-ma- Lay, Gotta Move (what a great Myrtle Beach 60s sounding tune), the new instrumental Pedro, Like Anyone Else (Mike Mattison's range, oh my!). We got the other short instrumental on the new album (name escapes me at the moment). They closed the house down with Joyful Noise. We got Jimmy Herring on Joyful Noise and Marc Quinones for almost the entire set (he was particular good on Pedro!)....... Mike stands center stage (where Jav was always on the side). He did the intros of the band w/Yonrico introducing everyone again as they left the stage. Mike comes & goes from the stage when they do instrumentals. Maybe he could take up some conga lessons from Marc, in the way Jav learned percussion when he joined the band. Either way, Mike is a talent with the mic. I miss some of the Spanish vocals but the dTb is down right elegant these days. Derek really fits the dTb, even more so than the ABB. This band could have played another hour & I would have been happy. When the dTb came on stage the place was virtually empty and it was only 1/2 full at best when they left, but people were up & grooving by the end. Tim
