What can I say that has not already been said? Well first of all let me say again how nice it was to see “Sista Libby”, David & Ellen, Rob Johnson & Tammy, Gregg & Barb Potter and everyone else. The DTB were just incredible, from the first note played I was instantly in the groove. DTB has always managed to take me there on every occasion, but having Marc Q and Jimmy Herring sit in really put the icing on the cake. This was my first occasion to hear Mike Mattison sing live and he is every bit as good as I had heard and then some. Really great voice and he is also an incredibly nice person, “Great Job Mike”. What an incredible group of musicians who’s talent just stuns me every time I see them. Libby, you bet I will be in Athens and Macon and Atlanta………….wouldn’t miss it for the world. The ABB were just stellar, Gregg’s B-3 was on fire as well as his voice, he was really enjoying himself and happiness does have a way of spreading and Lakewood was surely ate up with happiness there was no denying it last night. The performances were just wonderful, incredible percussions (including Rico on Southbound), incredible guitars (including Jimmy Herring on Southbound) and incredible vocals by both Warren and Gregg. Southbound was my favorite tune done the whole night just to see all those smiling faces was just pure joy. After the show we headed over to Smith’s Olde Bar and caught Derek who cruised over with Mike Mattison to sit in on about three tunes with Robert Walter’s 20th Congress. The crowd just loved him and he did a great exchange (back and forth) with their sax player. So as you can see we did the whole shebang and this is one of those night’s I will probably never forget. Also, a big thank you to Carol “Bluefox”, my son really enjoyed the show and had a great view thanks to you! I will email you later today and fill you in okay?
