Wow!!! Tonight was absolutely perfect in every way. I'm blissfully fried, though, so no narrative for now, just a few impressions:
> Derek's set was just fantastic. They opened with "Maki Madni" and it just took off from there. When Jimmy H. came out for the finale, "Joyful Noise," everyone went crazy. Derek is the Zen Master, a calm, still presence even while playing these amazing runs. He awes me. The band is unpretentious...they get out of their own way and let the music come through.
> The drum trio's section of the instrumental...fantastic!
> Loved Oteil's soloing/scatting...more, please!
> It was a treat seeing Warren for the first time. He and Derek seemed very in sync with each other...and when Jimmy joined them for "Southbound" it was just plain astonishing.
And what a bunch of wonderful folks I met tonight! Kenny, you are the best! Tom and I really enjoyed hanging out with you, thanks for your hospitality. Sue, it was so good meeting you and your beautiful daughter! Hophead, Goliath, Roland, CeeCee, and everyone else...thank you for the warm welcome to Atlanta!
In short, the night and the concert could not have been better. My feet are tired from dancing and my heart is full. Off now to sweet dreams!

PS: Now it's Saturday morning...I did have a sweet dream: I dreamed I met Butch, a fellow former Tallahassean.
