I caught the PBS American Masters show on Ahmet Ertegun last night. It was time well spent. I'd encourage all music lovers to find it on their local PBS station and check it out. The artists he signed to Atlantic is a real who's who list of great talent. This not only includes the singers and musicians, but also the likes of Tom Dowd who is seen working his magic on the board.
Ahmet certainly had a fascinating career but more importantly a fascinating life immersed in the music he loved and that brought him so much joy. He surrounded himself with people who shared his enthusiasm and it was evident in the material they released.
