Been trying to decide whether/when to make this post. With us all so full of celebration now. But I think I should. Everybody comes here with different stories, backgrounds, life experiences. It's a tough world out there. Part of why we appreciate finding each other so much. This is Brent's story: Brent grew up in Pensacola. A bigger fan of the original band, and indeed the whole Capricorn world, you won't find. He was somewhat conned into moving to Shreveport and managing a supermarket there. 70-80 hour weeks, trying to keep his music career alive too--and with some success. He made a name for himself in a good blues town. His wife was responsible for making the Federal tax deposits withheld from his 17 employees. She didn't. She kept them. And the IRS notices mailed to his house. Until one day Brent came home to an empty house, empty bank account, and a 2-year old and a 4-year old. She had taken furniture, money, everything, and run out. 3 weeks later, the IRS took the house. Brent has worked his ass off. Recently got his youngest child through college. Oldest already got her degree. Brent works 4 nights a week refereeing basketball, baseball, and baseball. Every 2 weeks, he does logging work in South Ala. with his father, Fri. Sat. Sun. He mows yards, landscapes. Tries to keep his band together. He's 50 years old. The sun's been shining on Brent. His primary business, real estate (in a depressed area) has improved. The natural gas discovery here has helped. Thus he was able to go to NY with us. His band is booked solid for the next 2+ months. And people that know the difference got to see the talent, especially Friday afternoon. Only to come home to tragedy. Two steps forward, three steps back. Again. Some folks here get irritated with others over their views on politics sometimes. Brent has struggled through life with no help from the government. Sometimes he would get irritated with the view that victims were entitled. He never got a thing from anybody. Took care of business himself. And for his kids. All this just to say, we all have stories, life situations, life experiences. Sometimes I want to (and have) jumped folks because of their views. I, of course, don't know their stories and backgrounds. I had to remember this when I saw positive stuff about Chavez. Let them have their say, move on. Anyway, just wanted this family to know a little more about my friend. EAPFP
