Thought I'd share excerpts from some of the comments about Duane:
"Duane is the epitome of a classy musical director a la Miles (Davis). The music always came first. He and his band rocked my world all those years ago at The Fillmore. I don't think I've ever gotten over it and I hope I never will."
"From the moment I discovered Duane, I was hooked. I keep a ton of Duane photos at my desk to remind me that talent is something to share and espouse."
"I think it goes without saying that we all love Duane on this site, for most he is who and what brought us all to this great music we know and love."
"The passion, the fire, his outlook on life really impressed me...the way he spoke of Brotherhood...being kind to others...not a bad way to live your life. Words can hardly express what Duane has done for me over the years...made me smile, laugh and cry as well..."
"The thing that Duane taught me is playing with a heart connection. No one I'd seen before him could do this-reach out through the music and make a direct connection between his heart and mine. The guitar, the hands, the music, they all are vehicles for creating the joy and bliss that heart to heart connection brings. He changed my life."
Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! All those sentiments and more is why I'll never be able to hear enough of Duane's music. It drives my impatience. I'll personally always be grateful that I've been lucky enough, privileged enough, to have felt the emotion, beauty and pleasure Duane Allman has brought me through his music. old coot
