Lana's earlier post was perfect...well stated, short and to the point.... ..."Once again ... kindly leave unpleasantness at the door, Take care and know that you are loved....Lana" Thats not censorship - That is what's known as kindness, love and respect to this community and its damn good advice I think. Keep it real, keep it cool and to quote GPM, "Keep it Kind". Now onto other things - Beacon things. A few weeks ago Butch Trucks gave a really fine interview on jambands.com which was very cool and insightful and lots of us saw. I particulary loved Butch's answer to the following question. MG: How did last year’s Beacon run compare with your previous residencies? Butch Trucks: >>>...I have never been through an experience like last year. You play a group of shows and, normally, out of 10 or 12 shows maybe 3 or 4 click and just really hit the note - everybody is right there. Last year we had 15 in a row, I’m talking every single one of them! For instance, one night we started with “Mountain Jam” and It was in such a powerful pocket that I was just playing, my body was just doing it and I wasn’t thinking at all. And it was just right in the pocket. We finished the song and I cut off the tympani and I just broke down and started crying - it was so powerful! I sat down at my drums with tears running down my cheeks and I looked up at Marc Quinones and said, “Now what the F**k do we do?” It was the first song of the night. And he said, “I guess we go home.” And it was like that all 15 shows. Every single night was just just "hitting the note". I’ve never ever had a musical experience like that in my life!...<<<< To me that statement says it all about what's in the hearts and souls of this great band. When after 37 years playing this wonderful music, it can still emotionally move them to tears because it is still THAT good, THAT rewarding and that emotionally draining. When we need information about the band and the music they play, I am talking "real" information, we should go directly to the source. If Butch Trucks says it was the best run of of shows he's ever experienced, we believe him because he's been there through it all - all 37 years past and present. After all this time, this group of musicians clearly remains at the top of the live music experience. I think we are ready to climb that Mountain again with Butch and the Boys - Maybe there is another song or Jam coming this run that will bring them...and maybe us to tears again...Beacon Theatre 2007 - Let's go! Peace
