I never quite understand the human condition of laying monetary conditions on our artists and musicans. If its your calling or art you are not permitted to make lots of money hence destroying a 'brotherhood'. The music 'industry' is scorned because of its uncaring attitude to the musician. Look at how many bluesmen and women died in poverty. The current lineup has been going for a good fair while now, selling out shows and appearing to have a good time while making that dirty word 'money'. I think that they have been playing together longer than the original lineup now and when you play together for a while you develop a closeness that could be considered a 'brotherhood', laughing, playing, just being together a lot either in rehearsal or on the road. The longevity of this band is truly amazing which says a lot for its closeness and tightness and downright resilience.... Bands do not stay together if they hate each other. So for me its still a brotherhood. Everything changes , live for the now. Its not that long. Welcome the newcomers, so what if they weren't born when Duane played free shows. If they love it they get it. That simple. If you want this music to be kept alive, to nurture the next group of musicians in Derek and Duane's caliber, it needs to be spread. Lets not fall into the 'generation gap' that we went through with our WWII parents. ... 'not like it used to be in my day, gruff gruff gruff'
