Friends this has been one hell of a music week. We saw Chick Correa and Bella Fleck Monday night, Coco Montoya last night, and Tinsley Ellis tonight. Chick and Bella were amazing, but my ears don't listen as fast as they were playing so I missed a lot, and I'm sure I wasn't alone. The combination of piano and banjo was interesting to say the least, but the instruments sounded so similar at times it was hard to discern who was playing what. Coco Montoya was incredible, twisting the blues to make it something different entirely. What a player. If you haven't seen this cat, you need to catch him out some night. Very entertaining virtuoso musician. This was my first time hearing Tinsley Ellis and he didn't disappoint. What a fluid player. I don't think that I've ever seen a guitar player play so effortlessly. And from the little I spoke to him, I got the impression that he is a genuinely humble person that was very grateful for each and every fan that turned out tonight. Nice to see that.
