Hey Libby,
Thanks for the Midtown music info. I vaguely remember hearing something about it in the past but it never occurred at a convenient time for me to come down. I will definitely check out the web info. you suggested and do a little research.
I had the good fortune of visiting Georgia twice before. I came down for GABBA fest in 1996 when it coincided with the Macon Street Party music fest (or whatever it was called). What a great trip that was! Stayed at the Crown Plaza with hundreds of other like minded souls. I got to the Big House, Rose Hill, Capricorn.....and of course H&H. I met mama Louise and had the most wonderful food I think I ever tasted. Mmm-mmm. Gov't Mule played the street party AND at Liz Reeds. Derek Trucks and Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies were also playing that weekend. Great music, great peeps and a great little vacay.
The other time I was in town was in 1998 when the ABB played at the Fox Theater. I think that was my all time favourite place to see the boys. Stayed right across the street at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. That was a great trip as well. I wanted to make it down to Macon that time, but I had to cruise home in a hurry due to family stuff happening.
I always laugh when I think of getting pizza slices from this little joint just down the street a bit from the Fox Theater. Good pizza, but the proprietor was a trip. If you've ever seen the Seinfeld episode about the "Soup Nazi," this guy reminded me of that. From there on out we dubbed him the "Pizza Nazi." LOL
Great place though, (Georgia that is). Can't wait for an ABB reason to return.
