Dan B, EXACTLY!!! It's gone to the point that next year they'll have "The Car Of Tomorrow".... a.k.a. everyone has the same car! Another example is when they have a caution with just a few laps left and stop the race ubtil the clean-up is done. While it certainly can make for an exciting finish, it's also something that's contrived and often changes the results from what would have happened had the race finished without the intervention. Then there's the "Race for the Championship" where down to the last 10 races of the year, what was the top 10 (top 12 for 2007) at that point are the only drivers who can contest for the championship. The list goes on and on... But, like you suggest with Jeff Gordon (who's doing quite well today, by the way 😉 ), it certainly makes you question how much meddeling NASCAR does in the quest to manipulate the series.
