OK, so for a few years i roomed with this wonderful cat who would wake me up every day with a smoke and the words "WAKE UP MAMA TURN YOUR LAMP DOWN LOW!!!" about the 3rd or 4th time i went up, maybe 2000 or 2001, i was SO stoked riding over in the cab that when we pulled up in front of the hotel, i paid the driver, got my bags, stepped onto the curb, threw out my arms, thrust my head back, and lustily and ecstatically sang out -- and i have a voice that proJECTS itellyouwhat -- "wake up mama, turn yo' lamp down LOW!!!"
little old lady with a cane nearby stopped, turned, shook her finer at me, and scolded "young man, this city's loud enough without you adding THAT racket. SHUSH!!!!"
reason # 373 of about 1000 that i hope to make my 11th visit in 10 years.
