G.S.,
No, I don't have that Endangered Species record yet. Nor do I have the new Jimmy & Friends, er, I mean, Phil & Friends CD, among many others that I need to get. My arse has been slacking. I believe that's actually the name of the album and not the band though, but it grew out of that brief Justice League tour from 2000 (a "short tour of long jams" as it was named)....I think they even do some of the same songs on the record as Justice League played. Justice League was the same lineup, but was supposed to have Bobby Vega on bass. He got the flu (or maybe the "flu" ??) 2 days before the tour, so they replaced him with an ATL local that Jimmy had taught with at A.I.M. named Adam Nitti. Adam is an unbelievable bassist, and I woulda loved to have heard them record with him, but I bet that Gradney feller (from Little Feat) did a fine job. I gotta pick this disc up though. It's supposed to be more of a jazz-fusion record than a jamband record, so think Mahivishnu or Dregs type of thing.
I think that record is actually out on Tone Center Records, a subsidiary of Shrapnel. Tone Center also put out that disc with Oteil, Howard Levy (formerly of the Flecktones) and jazz/fusion fiddle-ist Jerry Goodman (from the Dregs and Mahivishnu). Another record I need to pick up. Kinda odd that Shrapnel is home of the metal shredder guitarists of the 80s, as well as two of my favorite players -- Oteil and Jimmy. I guess stranger things have happened.
Once I get all situated in my new digs, and get my 'puter all set up and ready to burn again, I'll try offering up a B+P of stellar recordings of stellar shows of both Project Z and Justice League. But until then....
