Hey folks!
Glad our best wishes were sent to Gregg! Thanks Lana!
Sorry I was out the last few days as I seemed to make a statement on developers and then wasn't around to contribute afterwords.
Bird and Cowboy Neil, I'm with you guys 100%.
Carol, I can't say what's happening over on your side of Florida, other than housing is significantly less expensive than here, dispite a weak market.
When I first moved to Miami in 1978, I remember classic estate homes, originally built in the early part of the 20th century all along Biscayne Blvd. True classics. Today, they are all gone, replaced by high rise condos. In Coconut Grove, the oldest part of Miami, millionaires from South America are buying up beautiful, classic homes, again from the 1920's and razing them and replacing them with concrete monstrosities. Down in Homestead farm after farm is being sold for developments. Now here in the U.S. our winter produce largely comes from Florida. Here we have many restrictions on what we can use and what we can't use regarding pesticides. Well, next time you're in the supermarket, just take a look at where the produce you're buying comes from. Chile, Peru, Dominical Republic, Costa Rica, .....
You don't think these countries actually have restrictions on the pesticides they use, do you? these countries are so far behind where we were 50 years ago, it's insane. Even Chilean farm raised salmon that we buy here is being infected with DDT from the runoff from the agricultural farms that are on the hillsides that border the fish farms.
Why do we buy produce from these countries? Because we're knocking out our own farms and replacing them with developments.
Our neighbors up to the north have the right idea. In British Colombia, Canada, farming area is farming area and you can't develop on farming area, period. Why? Because this is how they FEED themselves. You'd think it would be common sense, but in light of what's happening here, perhaps it should be viewed as genious. ..... or maybe we're just increadibly stupid?
Maximule, you sound just like Hemlock!!!
and you're both Mule fans. (B.T.W. Warren lives in New York 😉 )
Both apparently contractors...
Are you and he the same person....
or just clones? 😉
😆 :lol2:
