Tommars, the night before we left for the tour, we were at John Glombs house. A bunch of us were jamming and some guy walks in that was feeling 'kind'. Anyway he sits down and jams some stuff that was a different sort of blues. (I should say at that time in my life, I played guitar and would play out in San Diego. I even worked a little in a great local shop Moze Guitars. Since law school I no longer play and once a year at the Beacon and on a rare occasion in LA I'll play a few tunes.) With that said I could not figure out what the guy was playing. I played with him for hours and we couldn't seem to get a grove. I'd pull out a slide and it just would not mesh. I'd try to start an ABB song and he wouldn't follow. Much later that morning a friend asked commented that I was fearless because I kept on challenging Curren.... To be honest, I had no clue it was him. In 95' Tom could play but I couldn't really dig his music. Since you like surfing there are a lot of videos with his stuff. I really liked the Sonny Miller surf videos and this might be a place to check out his music. As any musician. I'm sure it changed. I also believe that every guitarist does something in their own way and you have to respect it. You can learn from any musician but in all honesty I did not dig Tom's playing that night. peace and love--scotty
