i will echo the sentiments about the Gadsden gang being worried about Lefty, seemed you couldn't toss a quarter without complete strangers mentioning him, or his band.....heck, even the lady working the front desk was talking about him! lmao. it is a testement to the amount of caring that we have here as a collective group....and the JFD sort of embodies that....
anywho, i just got home after a fantabulous trip, filled with MUCH love and GREAT, fantastic, WONDERFUL friends and family.
highlights for me included spending a whole boatload of time with Mister PatrickCrenshaw, who was one hell of a road companion. i am honored and privledged to call you a friend patrick! THANK YOU. He and i caught a few songs from Robert Randolph at the Tabernacle on Thursday night, it was a great way to start my weekend! Off to Macon next, for the usual stuff, including lunch at the H&H, a quick trip to The Big House, and some substantial time at Rose Hill.....then, off to Gadsden in one hell of a rainstorm.......finally arrived and met with BigDave, BlueDad, and was surprised to see my Jersey Boy Buddy SkyDogSys. I dont think i'm letting out any secrets when i say that Barry (skydogsys) blew us all away during his LizReed. Heck, he was even compared to Duane more than once by some that have seen duane play! YOU GO BOY! *MUAH*. Heck, he even called me up on stage to sing "Ramblin Man". Sheesh! heck, i could go on and on and on, but it would take up too much room.
the music was great, there was a slide guitar player in attendance - Isaac Pike - that amazed us all.....he truly may be as gifted and talented as Derek, and i hope to hear more from him and his band "SpunWagon". pwew.....
Had a high time dancing my ass off with the likes of Kim Payne, Haijsa, and Big Dave.....ooooo yeah......
ok, enough. thank you randy, and brent (it was totally nice to finally meet you). Sistabluez, HelenBanes, Marionsindorf (who came all the way from San Diego and was terribly exctied). Big Ann, Johnny, sheesh......so many people! awesome. foothills with the coffee in the lot....carl weaver, the honky tonk guys....Lepord Skin Pill Box Hat done by tommy taunton i belive, that cat just didnt want to go back to the room and go to sleep, he wanted to keep playing was totally hot! Oh man, by the end of Saturday night, that 2nd Street Music hall was ROCKIN........i never have been to such a freaking awesome Honkey Tonk in my life! what a goddammed great time. Randy, Brent, thank you both for all of your hardwork to make this happen for us all!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!
