....and another thing or two, CRS-related. Late in their closing set Sat. night, they invited Brent to sit in for the last few songs, including Statesboro Blues, not normally in their setlist. In my eyes, this is pure class on their part--these men have done it all, seen it all. It's what--20 minutes of their lives, a lifetime memory to somebody who tries to keep the music alive year after year. Do I see a trend here? Bill at Wanee, Barry at Atlanta? A little giving back? A wonderful thing, IMHO. Another cool little CRS moment Saturday, before All My Friends, Scott acknowledged and thanked Gregg from the stage for putting it back in his setlist. They found out about it the night before. And a HUGE thank-you to the bands! Bobby Purify's band, the Hugh Gaskins Band--these guys paid their own way, played for nothing (read zero, nada), only got free rooms out of the deal. And thanks to all who contributed to the silent auction, and those who bid on/bought stuff. Money from this went to the above-mentioned rooms. Also the personal financial donations. I don't know who did what, as Brent handled all this, but it made quite a difference. Thank you.
