Fun night last night at the EC/DT show. I thought our boy was on, as was Mr. Clapton. nice bluesy setlist. Anyday was really sweet. As everyone says, Little Queen of Spades was amazing. A couple of rounds of solos, building to a peak, then the volume drops to NOTHING and Derek steps up. During the solo I found myself laughing uncontrollably it was so much fun. I was actually a little disappointed with Layla, it seemed EC stepped on Derek's lines a bit.
AS regards the players, EC was brilliant, Derek was on top of his game, Doyle was best the closer he stayed to Albert King. Chris Stainton hit the note several times. The rhythm section was dead on the money. Tim Carmon-well he has the unenviable task of playing the Mike Lawler role-all he needed was the keytar.
Sound up in the nosebleeds was pretty good.
