Tony, regarding the apparent muffing of lyrics at the Nashville show.... That Nashville show had many "special guests." After being spoiled by the previous shows Lana and I were at, the 7/4 show didn't have the same "flow" or groove that some of the other shows did. (This is all MY opinion, and I think I've stated this before.) Chris Anderson was a guest guitarist on YDLM that night. I don't know who he's played with, but he was a decent guitar player. (He kind of skulked around the stage area all night, but that's another story!) Unlike the other guests who quit after two verses of soloing, Chris just kept going. So, at least one of those Gregg mess-ups was due to that. Gregg didn't seem sure of the "usual" order of singing and soloing because of that, I thought. Another example of being thrown off their groove was the butchered beginning of Statesboro Blues that night. My theory is that they had turned the mic at Gregg's piano off (or down) when Johnny Neel was sitting there during the Southbound jam earlier. Then, when Gregg leaned into that mic to start that familiar "1, 2, 1, 2, 3..." countoff, the mic wasn't on, and the Band kind of "fell" into the song. The Band seemed a little off most of the night in Nashville, to me. I think the special guests threw them off their groove. They sure DID find it again during MJ, though! 😀 Again, these are all just my theories. Other folks who were at that show have told me they feel differently about it, so... Scott, I am hoping the best for your friend's dad. And, as far as the incense, Brian Farmer (Warren's tech, and a real nice guy) usually has at least two sticks of Nag Champa incense burning by his work station on stage. If you've ever been to Lana's house, you've probably smelled Nag Champa burning...like we will this weekend!!! :clapping:
