Good morning all! I’ve just returned from a three-week conference in … uh ... magical Orlando, Florida. The days were long (12 hours was a short day!) with only one off day during the entire three week period. We were given park hopper passes to use on our off day, but I opted instead to take a company van and venture out on a nature sight seeing spree. I found a great place to see manatee near Cape Canaveral. I've got some great pix if anyone's interested. The two things that kept me from going insane (or any further along than I was before the conference began) were my little Martin and my Ipod. My role during this conference was to provide audio and video to an auditorium full of conference attendees. During the first several weeks, the music played to the assembly during breaks was from a house “Muzak” system. In Orlando, this translates to Disney themed tunes. How many time can you stand to hear, “It’s a Small World After All” before attempting to commit suicide by any means available (the ceiling was much too high to dangle myself from with a mic cable). During the final week, I patched my Ipod into the PA and treated the attendees to selections from the Allman Brother’s Band, Government Mule, Oteil and the Peacemakers and the Derek Trucks Band. Folks started walking up to the sound board area wanting to know more about the music they were hearing. When some of the “old-timers” asked, “whatever happed to the Allman Brothers?” – I treated them to samples from “Hittin the Note” and the recent Atlanta and Birmingham shows. I think I reclaimed some old fans and initiated a few new ones. I am so glad to be back in my home and with my TRUE friends on this board!
