I got to see one of my all time bass heroes last night for the first time, tje king of NOLA funk, George Porter, Jr, with PBS (Porter, Batiste, & Stoltz) at Bragg Jam 2006 in Macon. Set up right by the stage was the Hittin' the Note roadshow. On hand were Joe Bell and his lovely bride, Willie Howard from Mayberyetta, and the incomparable tour mystic, Kirk West. Needless to say, Mr. Porter can certainly funkify one's life-it was a great show! Oteil :egypt: even dropped by the HTN tent, and was warmly greeted by George from the stage. Brother Goliath and Miss Elf were there too, and they saw Oteil later that evening at another of the Bragg Jam venues-alas, it was too far past my bedtime!:-( Love to all, Byard
