Saw Dave Matthews Band and Robert Randolph & FB last night. Great, great show. I know Dave gets a lot of criticism, but he is enormously talented. His songs are well written and interesting, the band is outstanding & incredibly tight. Dave is a great singer, uses his voice as an instrument. I've seen his band over the years and shows have been inconsistent. Last night, they were on the top of their game. Robert Randolph joined Dave for a great version of Watchtower. Robert's set was short, but very good. He just has so much energy and his performances are always great. Jason Crosby, has to be, hands down, one of the best keyboard players on the scene. His B3 solos are tasteful and masterfully crafted. Played some violin also. I was somewhat concerned that this band might not be the best outlet for him, but he added so much to the sound. I think Jason can be put in the same league as Chuck Leavell. He was a prodigy as a child and has proven himself, over and over again, throughout the years. He's the real deal.
