I just read where trumpeter Maynard Ferguson has died. I and many members of our HS jazz band worshipped Maynard and his "little big band" back in the mid-to-late '70s. We hounded our band director to get the charts to Maynard's version of "Chameleon" and a few others. A bunch of us went to see them a few times.
Another piece of my youth has passed on. R.I.P. Maynard Ferguson.
