I have to echo Gailagains sentimenets about last nights show in Erie. Freight train pretty much sums it up. They should have renamed the Warner theater, the "Warren Theatre" last evening. The man was on a mission and taking no prisoners. Warren was abolutely on fire. And the rest of the band matched his lead with a very intense show. Straight out of the gate, they hit the ground running (hard) with "Hot 'Lanta" into "Don't Keep me Wonderin'" then "Trouble No More" and a very spirited "Woman Across the River". "Come and go Blues" brought things down a touch, and I don't think anyone breathed until the opening strains of a very steamy "Desdemona"
I haven't seen many 1st shows at the start of a new leg, but there was no rust last evening. Our good Friend Bill Proudfoot chatted with Kirk West in the late afternoon behind the theater, and he (Kirk) said everyone was in town except "Haynes" who was caught up the the travel delays resulting from the recently thwarted terror plot. He must have built up a fair amount of frustration upon arrival in Erie, and he preceded to work it, ( rather, thrash it) out of his guitars. If guitars can feel, Warren's must be aching today from the workout they got last night.
A very strong show, and a solid set list. The band in very fine form on this last leg of summer 2006.
We are eagerly anticipating Darien next Tuesday. I'm hopefully optimistic that Mr. Petty may grace the Brothers stage and join in on a song or two, and hopefully return the graciousness by inviting some of our boys to share his stage later in the show.
After Darien, our little Buffalo contingent awaits the Red Rocks shows at the other end of this outing.
A big Happy B-day :birthday: to Karen B. and a happy giving of thanks for Lynn's good spirits and speedy recovery. We're just glad it wasn't the whole finger.......or was that "hole" finger? Glad to see you out and about and enjoying yourself and feeling better.
Great to see many of our road buds; Karen and Oran from Toronto, Karen and Lynn from the Great White North, Bill Proudfoot - the Pittsburgh kid, and our local crew; Jeff & Denise, Gailagain and Wild Bill from Utopia, and finally the work mates Cletus - Dave Ryba and Lizard Mama-Liz Ryba, and last but certainly not least Gary Serwinowski whom we have not yet concocted a nickname for.
Great kick off for this final run. Get out there and enjoy the rest of your summer, kids. The road beckons....
