For those on the fence about going
to GABBA this year, GO!! Lefty Collins and the NMB will rock you and play their collective asses off for you. It
is a good thing to support the music
we all love. Whereever, whenever, and however we can.
I doubt I would have rushed out to buy the Layla record if our Southern hero of the times, Duane Allman, was'nt on their. We all were aware of Clapton from all the other bands
and for the most part, loved him. But, living in the South and being into the music, Duane was our man. Yes, I know we all love him but at that time, we kinda felt like he was one of us, right or wrong. There were few, very few, if any, really great players from our region of the world and Duane put us on the Map. Hell, most folks did'nt even know where Macon was. Understand, this is before the
ABB really made it big. Growing fast
and enlightening all that got to hear the "preachin'". Duane made it happen......
We honor Duane with the "Jam for Duane" each year and to continue to enlighten those who need educatin'.
It's soo cool to play a gig and do an ABB song from the Duane days and have people singin along. And these are young people, under 25. Just an
amazing thing.
The Jam for Duane is on Oct. 28th
with lots of music and fellowship of
true Duane fans. You're all welcome, it's free, and we will do all we can to help make your visit a pleasant one.
Jammin' for Duane,
