....I personally intend to go by Books A Million as well as Joe Muggs and ask each store manager to carry HTN, so add a little more ink to the presses. ...To Tom S.: No Way, it's BIRMINGHAM, Alabam, "Sweet Home Alabama"!. Yeah, Oak Mtn. is smaller, but its not fair to compre it to Huntsville in that the Huntsville event you mention was held in the middle of downtown Huntsville, not an enclosed venue like OM. As for that, I think the ticket price would be upped enough to make it worthwhile. And at least for me, I'm getting kinda tired of the bring-your-own-seat venues and having to fight off rude assholes 🙁 who crowd around you when the first note drops when you have been patient and got to the venue an hour or so ahead of time. ....on the post about Topper. Topper is doing well. He plays all over town, and has made a couple of excellent CD's over the last few years, one in which was produced by Johnny Sandlin. As Tom S. mentioned, Topper played a tune on one of DB albums years ago, but I cannot remember the tune or the album. Most recently, Topper had for a while a guitar player named Rick Kurtz that in my HO, is every bit as good as Warren or the Kid. Rick last I heard was in the Nashville area touring with some country singer. I believe if anyone has the '98 (?) Oak Mountain Fall show, Rick sat in on SB. ...but, back to this idea of DB and ABB playing on the same bill. I mean honestly, think about it. We all are here because we like the ABB, fact one. And (most) of us liked/tolerated/worshiped (take your own pick) of Dickey before the Band made its change. It personally raises the hair on my arms to think of a gig with both bands playing. Hell, they may not pass each other in the hallway, but that is a management issue. One thing that you could be assured of is that 1) Out of sheer ego, the boys would each play their ass off 2) it would be so intense that I don't know if we could really imagine just how awsome it would be and 3) knowing just how music affects people at the moment, I would almost guarantee that (sans some BS internal memo) someone will sit in during the others' gig. Don't know who would have the balls to "cross over" but I believe it would happen as the music has that much power. Now, if we can find a sponsor (I heard Home Depot is available 🙂 ) and make it happen. I joke a little about having braggin' rights for Birmingham, but anywhere (as long as it would be outdoors) would be cool. WHEW!!!! Honestly, I ask it for feedback....why should we not ask for this? Is there some reason we should not ask for the Bands to play under the same roof? I mean, if all they want is enough money, just tell me how much the ticket is, and at this point in the big picture, as long as we fans pay the freight, lets get it together!!!! Come on peachheads, let's talk about this.
