Syd has been on the diabetic diet since October, which looks a lot like what you listed, only he eats more than that. He has lost 45 pounds or more and kept it off.
For breakfast he eats either a bowl of rice very low carb cereal or the oatmeal with Splenda AND a low carb wrap with eggbeaters and a small slice of cheese.
He eats low carb popcorn at night for snacks and he eats lots of fruit, especially strawberries and blueberries.
Eat lean meat or fish and brown rice (small portions) with veges for dinner. He does that salad thingy for lunch. He eats grilled buffalo burgers, they are lower in fat than lean beef. Add things like this as you go along, you cannot keep up a diet that bland for very long.
