Memphis: Like patrickcrenshaw mentions Sun, Stax and Graceland are must dos while in Memphis. You should also check out Beale Street as there's almost always some good music around even if you haven't heard of the band(s). While in the Beale Street area there's an old movie theater turned nightclub (New Daisy?) on Beale that occasionally gets some good name bands in (think Mule, Bela, etc...). A block or two away is the Peabody Hotel...check out the ducks there. A Redbirds (StL AAA team) game is always a good inexpensive time - if you like baseball - and the stadium is right next to Beale. I also enjoyed stopping by Ernestine and Hazels (about a mile South of Beale?) for a burger and a beer - that's all they serve...burgers and beer- now, that place has some history to it. I think the Blue Monkey gets some decent music in occasionally, but I don't believe the sound is too good there. Tunica is abut a 1/2 hour drive and I like the casinos there much better than AC or NO (never been to Vegas). You should also consider sittin on the banks of the river at sunset and soaking your feet in old Man River. That's all I can offer, good luck! Here's to good times in Memphis (I'm sure you'll find them)!!! 🙂
